PTO NOMINATION FORM

The PTO Nominating Committee is seeking nominations for officers and committee chairs for the 2017 - 2018 school year. The list of nominations will be presented at the May 11, 2017 meeting and the candidates will be voted on that evening. All officers and chairs are elected to serve for a one-year term. Co-Officers and Chairs are permitted. The following is a list and brief description of each office and committee:

OFFICERS / COMMITTEE CHAIRS
PRESIDENT
  • Preside at all PTO meetings
  • Act as an ex-officio member of all committees
  • Perform all other duties usually pertaining to the office
VICE PRESIDENT
  • Act as an aid to the President
  • Assume the office of President if called upon
  • Perform the duties of the President in President’s absence
SECRETARY
  • Record and disseminate minutes of all meetings of the PTO
  • Maintain all old records and correspondence
  • Prepare and distribute notices regarding meetings
  • Maintain and update the PTO website
  • Send email blasts as requested by the PTO
TREASURER
  • Receive and deposit all money of the PTO
  • Keep an accurate record of all receipts and expenditures
COMMITTEE CHAIRS
FUNDRAISING: Investigate opportunities and coordinate chair people for various fundraisers as requested by the PTO
ASSEMBLIES/AUTHOR’S DAY: Coordinate assemblies for the school year and Author’s Day activities in the spring
BOOK FAIR: Coordinate two book fairs during the school year
BOX TOPS FOR EDUCATION: Coordinate a collection method and submit / PICTURE DAY: Work with company;distribute and collect orders; be on site day of Pictures during Fall 2017 picture and retake day; recruit volunteers and assist parents with any problems with picture purchases.
5th GRADE FUNCTION COORDINATOR: DARE Graduationand Reception (December) and5th Grade Moving Up Ceremony and Party (June)
FAMILY FUN NIGHTS: Provide monthly night time events such as Monster Mash, Polar Express Movie Night, Science Night, Craft Night, Sock Hop
TEACHER LIAISON: Facilitate communication between PTO and WES staff. Ensure that items are calendared on staff calendar, building calendar and Cutting Edge calendar. Attend meetings. Must work at WES.
TWIN PONDS: Coordinate Fall, Winter and Spring plant/flower fundraisers with Twin Ponds
SUPPLIES AND INVENTORY: Keep and maintain an inventory of supplies for PTO use at our designated space in the school
MAD SCIENCE AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM: Coordinate spring Mad Science after school program
PARP: Coordinate Parents as Reading Partner activities (spring)
GREENKILL: Investigate fundraising opportunities for the 5th Grade trip to the YMCA Greenkill Facility
TEACHER APPRECIATION WEEK: Coordinate a lunch or dailytreats/thank yous to the teachers (May)
END-OF-THE-YEAR TEACHERS’ APPRECIATION LUNCHEON: Coordinate food and volunteers for luncheon (June)
SPIRIT WEAR: Coordinate all spirit wear offered to WES families
MEMBERSHIP: Distribute, collect & create membership. Create a membership database
