PRODUCT DATA MARCOAT HIGH VISCOSITY (HV) GROUT

Product Name: Marcoat HV Grout System (formerly Wall Grout)

Product Description: Solvent and Stain Resistant Epoxy Grout.

Colors Available: Quarry Brown, Pewter Gray, Clay, Charcoal, Black, Terra Cotta and customized colors.

DESCRIPTION

Marcoat Epoxy HV Grout is a high viscosity, non-sag epoxy grouting system for vertical grout lines, damming applications, or for floor grout applications where taping is not possible. These applications require a high viscosity system to maintain the bead shape and stay within the grout line. HV Grout is a two-component, room temperature curing grouting system available in easy to use disposable cartridges. It is a 2:1 meter-mix formulation by volume for use on tile surfaces where water, moisture, commercial chemicals, such as acids or harsh cleaning materials are present. HV Grout exhibits minimal shrinkage of less than ½% and forms a tough, hard bond to the side surfaces, which distributes stresses over the entire bond line to prevent cracking or separation. HV Grout is made with reactive components for a very fast cure, and has a low odor when mixed out of the special dispensing mixer tube. This product has a work life of 45-50 minutes in the mixer tube, and is tack free to the touch in 120 minutes. Recommended service time is 8 hours before walking on. Marcoat HV Grout is registered with NSF for indirect contact with food such as floors, walls, and ceilings.

APPLICATION TESTING DONE TO DATE:

Cured slugs of the epoxy grout were immersed in the following acid solutions for over 100 days with no change in hardness, color or weight pick up (swelling test).

  • Hydrochloric acid 10% concentration
  • Sulfuric acid, battery grade, 10% concentration
  • Oleic acid, 10% concentration
  • Acetic acid 10% concentration
  • Phosphoric acid 10% concentration
  • Sodium hydroxide (lye) 10% concentration
  • Nitric acid 10% concentration.

10% concentration is the most aggressive concentration for most acids, higher levels are not as corrosive.

Water Spray Testing:

2500 psi water power washer spray directly on grout area for 30 minutes with no damage, The fan spray nozzle held 6 inches from grout and tile surface to simulate power washing as done in many restaurants.

APPLICATION

Clean and dry grout areas to be bonded before applying. Remove old grout, especially powdery, loose sanded grouts. Apply grout directly to area to be grouted using the mixer tube and the recommended manual or pneumatic gun, which has proper rigidity. Ensure that has sufficient epoxy to fill the jointline and be smoothed out using the special tool before the grout begins to gel in 50-60 minutes. Replace mixer tube if material starts to gel and becomes hard to dispense. Do not touch grout with bare fingers until completely dry, at least 120 minutes at 72F. Use Nitrile gloves for handling epoxy. Do not use latex.

Read MSDS before use and note information on labels. Curing Agent is corrosive to eyes and skin, use with care. Do not get on skin, wash hands after use. Do not smoke or eat when using.

HV Grout is packaged in a two component plastic, disposable cartridge, which is premetered at 2:1 mix ratio. Dispensing with the use of the recommended mixer tube directly into the grout line will prevent skin contact with the epoxy and provide optimum mixing.

DUE TO A WIDE VARIETY OF CLEANING MATERIALS USED IN COMMERCIAL FACILITES, NO GUARANTEE IS GIVEN ON THE COLOR FASTNESS OF THE GROUT. SURFACE COLOR CHANGE MAY OCCUR WITH TIME IF STRONG BLEACHING AGENTS ARE USED. TEST CLEANING AGENTS ON GROUT IN SMALL LOCATIONS BEFORE USE IF COLOR IS IMPORTANT.
