Re: CSA Data Set Definition Modification

The State Executive Council (SEC) has approved a FY12 labeling and definition modification to the CSA Data Set category Services for SPED Children Educated in the Public School, service placement type (SPT) 5.

The new FY12 label and service description, effective July 1, 2011 is:

Wrap-Around Services for Students With Disabilities*: Non-IEP services in the IFSP and approved by the FAPT provided to a student with a disability and/or the student’s family necessary to keep the student out of a more restrictive educational placement. These are non-residential services provided in the home and community when the needs associated with the student’s disability extend beyond the school setting and threaten the student’s ability to be maintained in the home, community, or school setting. The wrap-around services are provided outside of the school setting. The wrap-around services may be provided to a student who is placed in a public school setting, a private day school, or being transitioned back to the community from an educational residential program or from a juvenile correctional center.

*A “student with a disability” is a student who has been determined eligible for special education and related services under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).

This change will be incorporated with the first FY12 Data Set reporting, period ending December 31, 2011 and due to the CSA office January 31, 2012. Please contact your locality CSA Technical Assistance Coordinator should you have any questions on this modification.

This labeling change has been incorporated into the FY12 Pool Fund Expenditure Report in expenditure row 2h. Reference the memorandum of June 15, 2011, RE: FY12 Pool Fund Reporting Test System is Available for additional information on FY12 Pool Fund Expenditure reporting.
