Email Information

·  Account is active until the last day of your employment.

·  Messages in inbox remain for 6 months unless moved to a folder. Draft mail disappears in 7-10 days.

·  Email should not be used for storage of files (do not Email files to yourself as we have to archive all mail/attachments for 5 years per legal requirements). Instructional personnel use My Big Campus for file storage or google drive. Administrative personnel use shared drive storage provided by Information System.

·  NEVER, NEVER give your password or identifying info if requested in an Email. We will never send you an Email asking for it. Identity theft is widespread. Keep all your passwords secure. Never save your passwords so others can access them.

·  If you feel your password has been compromised, you may change it by going to http://sbcsc.k12.in.us/mail and sign on, go to options at the top right under your name—choose change your password—(at least 8 characters long with UPPERCASE/ lowercase/number/symbol and save).

·  URL is http://www.sbcsc.k12.in.us/mail -- please note: if you are outside the continental United States, you cannot access your Email using this web address; you can access Email if smartphone/ipad/tablet is set for Exchange Email account.

·  Sign on is your user ID—note: your user ID does not include the @sbcsc.k12.in.us

·  Important terms

o  User ID is the part to the left of the @sbcsc.k12.in.us (an example is madams)

o  Email address is the user ID and the @sbcsc.k12.in.us (an example is )

·  Information for setting your smartphone, tablet, etc. for Email is:

o  Select Exchange mail account; user ID does not include the @sbcsc.k12.in.us

o  Domain is ad.sbcsc.k12.in.us and server is mail.sbcsc.k12.in.us

o  The above information will help your vendor assist you; unfortunately, we do not have access to all the different devices and their setup information.

·  Email from other accounts is not accessible while on the SBCSC network as we are legally required to archive all employee Email for 5 years and we can only archive what is sent/received using the SBCSC account.

·  Email help—sign in to email click on ? at top left under your name and choose Help. Type in search term like Contacts, Folders, Calendars, Appointments, Request a Meeting and choose one of the topics that appear.

My Big Campus (MBC) Information

·  My Big Campus is part social network, part learning management system, and part content management system.

·  Address is www.mybigcampus.com

·  Account is available for all instructional personnel.

o  Use your user ID (do not type @sbcsc.k12.in.us) and password. You must also type in your school and then click on the school when it appears before you click on Login.

o  Users working in multiple buildings will have only 1 sign on. If you have multiple buildings, Email to have district wide access. With district access, you will type South Bend Community School Corporation and then select it.

o  Teachers have unlimited storage; file size is up to 100MB; also, YouTube videos for student use are available through MBC.

o  Accounts are available for all students.

o  MyBigCampus is a closed social network where students cannot communicate outside their buildings. Letter should be sent home to parents for primary and intermediate students. Letter is available at http://www.sbcsc.k12.in.us/tech

o  Student accounts are already set up. Students will sign on same as CompassOdyssey. They will use firstnameID# and password is ID#.

o  Student conversations are limited to teachers/students within their building.

o  If something is written that is objectionable and erased, it is still available for administration to review.

o  Students have unlimited storage and file size is 100MB.

PowerTeacher Information

·  All teachers use PowerTeacher for Attendance and Grade Book. Use Firefox. Attendance should be taken daily per principal directions and grades entered on a timely basis. Attendance, assignments and grades are visible in the parent portal and student portal. Parent/student portal problems should be referred to your school office. Teachers should use the new launch (first time click on installer—this must be done on each different computer that is used.

Google Apps for Education (GAFE) ****staff can use now—students coming soon****

·  We are implementing Google Apps for Education this school year. When the implementation is complete, you will have the functionality of Google Apps except for Email. You will have access to Google Drive for cloud storage. Staff cannot use gmail as we are required by law to archive all Email for 5 years and that is done through the SBCSC mail account. To access Google Apps, go to http://google.com and sign in with your SBCSC Email address and Email password. You will then be asked to change your password. (special note: if you would like to have single sign on so your password for Google is the same as your Email—after you change your password for Google, go to your computer and sign on to SBCSC email http://sbcsc.k12.in.us/mail and at the top right under your name go to Options and change your password—(at least 8 characters long with Upper case/lowercase/number/symbol and save). Next time you sign on to Google you use your new SBCSC Email password. Remember for google you use email address ex. SBCSC email, you use only madams If you have problems, call Nate at 283-8240. Teachers can add software to the iMacs that does not violate copyright laws to their iMacs. The admin is teacher and the password is the normal password. If you don’t know it, Email asking for teacher password—give your school name.
