Develop and teach classes on sustainability and systems change for the Nelson Institute for Environmental Studies. Classes include “People, Environment & Sustainability”; and “Systems Thinking and Sustainability”. Formerly taught “Business and the Social Side of Sustainability.
Designed and taught the ethics class for the WI School of Business MBA program called “Ethics, Values and Sustainability”.

Direct the day-to-day activities of the Wisconsin Sustainable Business Council, including Green Masters program development, conference coordination, case study preparation and engaging with the Board of Advisors. Prepare an annual Triple Bottom Line sustainability report for the state of Wisconsin and the annual New Technology Jobs report. Represent the Council in high level meetings and present on business sustainability at conferences and events across the state.

Green Manufacturing Sector Developer,Office of Business Support and Sustainability
Responsible for developing legal and policy components for the green manufacturing sector in Wisconsin. Also responsible for promoting and marketing the Green Tier program with businesses in the state. Drafter of first Charter in the US which brings parties together to cooperatively work toward superior environmental performance.

Division Policy Advisor, Air & Waste Division
Internal management consultant to the division, responsible for high visibility projects. These projects include leading the Waste Program Environmental Management System (EMS) pilot, serving as the team leader for the Air & Waste division’s performance measures team, and representing the division on the Department’s Diversity team;
Primary author of legislation that created an alternative regulatory track for select businesses; and
Established strong links and mutually supportive relationships between the DNR and the University of Wisconsin’s Nelson Institute for Environmental Studies and it’s Business School.

Director, Office of Pollution Prevention
Transformed an unfocused, minor program into a highly visible, major bureau by totally redesigning the mission and establishing relationships with the business and environmental community;
Increased the budget for the Office of Pollution Prevention five-fold by securing major federal grants; and
Managed a reorganization process that created a new program focused on partnership development, voluntary beyond-compliance activities and outreach to businesses.

Superfund Enforcement/Natural Resource Damages Coordinator
Secured EPA’s commitment to clean-up a number of contaminated sites. As project manager for these sites, I represented the DNR in numerous public meetings with concerned citizens, and ensured that EPA work was of high quality and done correctly; and
Coordinated enforcement activities of the Superfund program and developed productive relationships among litigious parties.
MONTANA DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCES
1987 to 1991
Special Assistant Attorney General (Supervising Attorney)
Assisted in the creation of Montana’s Superfund Program; responsible for developing the organic legislation, policies and strategies;
Secured major recovery of government costs which had been incurred for decades of government response to mining contamination;
Lead counsel on major natural resource damage case;
Drafted and negotiated state hazardous substance administrative orders and consent decrees, resulting in multi-million dollars worth of remediation work.

Community Developer
Founded, built and taught in first primary school for tribal community on island of Mindoro;
Developed agricultural expertise and established a nursery of native fruit and nut trees;
Involved in securing property rights for tribal community.
