Why WCBC?

***WCBC is the MAJOR source of Cumberland area radio news and information in

Western Maryland.

***WCBC targets the 25-54 year olds who are in the process of making a name for

themselves—the upwardly mobile adults in the process of building families as well

as professional careers.

INFORMATIVE – WCBC is an affiliate of ABC, NBC, ESPN Sports, Mutual and Met Opera Broadcast Networks. National News is presented hourly by ABC followed by Local News and Weather. Plus expanded coverage in Morning Drive, Midday, and Afternoon Drive – giving in-depth coverage of the latest news of our region.

SPORTS – Twice an hour in Morning Drive, plus hourly updates. Local coverage of area high school and college sports as well as Pittsburgh Pirates Baseball.

WEATHER – WCBC’s Finckle Forecasters provide the most accurate forecasting in the region on radio.

It’s easy to understand why WCBC is the Tri-State’s Information Station.

ENTERTAINING – WCBC plays the HITS.

All of the music played on WCBC is or was a legitimate mass-appeal HIT. WCBC’s format is structured to include a wide range of HIT MUSIC-from the 50’s to the most recent HITS in contemporary music. EVERY SONG is well known and liked. WCBC is also Fun’N’Games. We’ve given away thousands of dollars in the Cash Call contest and involve our listeners in contests and promotions like The World’s Greatest Mom and Dad, Live Free, and many more.

INVOLVED – WCBC’s programming and management philosophy is rooted in being involved in the region. We go beyond traditional public service announcements for community projects, extending to these organizations coverage through our local news department, plus live remote broadcasts. We also sponsor numerous community events including the News and Community Achievement Awards Banquet, the Miss Allegany County Scholarship Pageant, and Christmas for the Children of the Maryland Salem Children’s Trust. WCBC has always been there to serve those organizations which help our community and to offer a hand to individuals in need of help.

WCBC is all this and more—Why don’t you find out for yourself

why WCBC is the only radio station you will ever need!

SALEM CHRISTMAS

It’s become a WCBC tradition…”Christmas for the Children of the Maryland Salem Children’s Trust.” 1996 is the sixth anniversary of WCBC’s “adoption” of the Salem kids.

The Salem Children’s Trust is a home for children who have never known God’s love or the love of parents; for abused, neglected or abandoned children and those left alone by bereavement; for children shifted among foster homes, group homes and institutions; for children who as a result of their experiences are emotionally, mentally, and sometimes physically handicapped, who have behavior, speech or learning problems; for hurting children who could become criminals if not rescued at an early age.

Beginning in early November, recordings of the children will be aired on WCBC to permit our listeners to meet the kids and to hear the “wish lists.” Everyday until mid-December, the station will provide details of how to make donations of cash or gifts to the Salem Children’s project.

We are asking your assistance as a sponsor to help promote the party for the kids…to include your business in the goodwill generated by showing your support…and in helping to underwrite the cost of the project.

WCBC provides all the legwork, coordination and promotion of the event including airtime for each sponsor: daily announcements, newscasts before and after the event, and mentions in all station promotion.

Make this Christmas a “Christmas of a lifetime” for a child!
