Guest Teacher Plans for Wednesday, January 13, 2016

Welcome! I am at a math conference out of town today. I will have my cell on (612-600-6307) and be near my email () a lot of the day – not all – so please contact me if you have any questions. Stephanie Woldhum (room 224 – I share a room with her ) and Rob Rumppe (room 224s) are great resources if you need anything. Here is my schedule for the day and a few students in each class you can ask for help if you have questions.

(but all of them are helpful) / ·  Students will come to the math center to take tests or for help. I have several aides that may be in there. Thor (or any of them) can give you directions of how the room works.
·  I have a couple of students that normally show up just to work (Jacob, Cameron, and others), they should not need much help.
·  Rob Rumppe, whose desk is in the room, usually arrives at 8:30 or so. Ask him questions if you have any.

Math Center
Room 224s / 9:14-10:04 / NO student aides this hour. / ·  Help students with taking tests or assignments. Students must sign in when they arrive and they must have a pass.
·  If it becomes too stressful to have students, put a ‘Math Center CLOSED’ sign on the door.

Advanced Algebra
Room 224 / 10:08-10:58 / xxxxx
xxxxx / Directions:
·  Take attendance (seating chart or class list on clipboard)
·  Hand out one sheet dated “January 13th” with directions for students of what to do for the hour.
·  Students will be using computers for this assignment. They know how to get the , but need reminders to return them and plug them in before they leave.
·  I expect students to be working the entire hour. They can talk to their tablemates, but should be working on math.
·  If students finish early they can work on Daily Practice (homework) 4h and 4i. Students have copies of this, but I left you a few extra, just in case.
·  At the end of the hour, collect the sheets you handed out (even if students are not finished).
·  Leave me the names of any students who do not work for the majority of the hour or give you problems.

Prep & Lunch / 11:02-12:28 / Note: Stephanie Woldhum teaches in room 224 during this hour. I hang out in Room 224s and work there during my prep. There is a refrigerator and a microwave in this room.

xxxxx / Note: This class is my loudest. If Sabin is a handful, have him go work in the Math Center (next store). My ELL aide, Edgar, may pull 1-3 students to work with them individually. He is great.

Hello Advanced Algebra Students!

I am speaking at a math conference today & will be back tomorrow. Please use this hour to do the following tasks listed below. You MUST turn in this assignment to the Reserve Teacher before you leave class today.

Today’s Task – Exploring Quadratic Functions on Desmos:

1.  Today you will be using Desmos to explore Quadratic Functions. I expect you to record your answers in Desmos (I will grade what you type in) and in some problems on this sheet. You will have 2 different tasks to complete. Be prepared to explain what you noticed in class tomorrow. WRITE DOWN EVERYTHING.

2.  Get a computer and sign into student.desmos.com. Enter code for Task #1: Advanced Algebra Match My Pattern-Quadratic.

Use your real name when you sign in. I will be grading your work. If I don’t see your name, you will receive a zero.

4.  If you finish early today, work on the DOUBLE assignment (Daily Practice 4h & 4i) due Monday. Remember to show your work.
