Tuesday 29thMay Friends of Chernobyl Visit

SCHOOL BAGS

Following the continued success of this event in recent years and the generosity of our staff and pupils we will once again be hoping to give our guests from Chernobyl a gift following their visit to Bathgate Academy in May. 21 school bags have been purchased and we now need 21 individuals, groups, class groups, groups of friends or individual staff members to take a bag and fill it with donations/gifts. The young people who visit Bathgate Academy have very little and their time in Scotland has a significant impact on both their physical and mental health.Over the last 4 years we have been able to give these young people a bag filled with goodies. It is an excellent way for them to start their 4 weeks in Scotland.Host parents regularly comment on the generosity of the pupils and staff at Bathgate Academy and the wonderful experience the children have during their day.So much so that in recent years we are the first visit for the Children on their month long stay in Scotland.

Further information can be found

If you or your group would like to get involved please pass a note to Mr McKay asap with the

-Individual/Group details

-1 named pupil who will meet our guests when they visit and be responsible for collecting group donations.

The individual or group will be given the name and age of the child to allow them to get age appropriate items.I member of the charity committee will then pass on the bag and arrange to collect.

Library Use -For all students on exam leave/preparing for exams

Now that the exams are finally upon us, the library has very specific conditions of use. These conditions are to maximise your ability to find a quiet place for study and to get work done.

Please remember this is for YOUR BENEFIT so you can do well in your exams.

1 - The library is not a social area. This includes having personal conversations between bouts of work. It willdistract other people who have a right to quiet private study.

2 - The libraryis not a waiting room to be used between exams or to hang around until friends arrive.

3 - The computers are not for playing games or watching entertainment videos. You are expected to be working if you are in the library during exam time.

4 - The library cannot be used for collaborative study if it distracts other people from quiet study. You can arrange a classroom for this.

5 -Finally,be responsible and manage your breaks with respect to other peoples right to work. Do some quiet work then arrange to go to a social area to take a well earned break.
