PASTORAL LETTER: from Bishop Peter will be read at all Masses this weekend.

BAPTISMS: parents will present their children to the parish at the 11am today, prior to their baptisms.

ADVENT: means “coming” and we begin the church’s new year with four weeks of spiritual preparation to celebrate the coming of Christ at Christmas.

The Gospel this year will be from St Luke, Year C.Please do your best promote the true meaning of Christmas by sending religious greeting cards. The Repository has a good stock of items for Advent and Christmas. Please put confessions on your to do list. The Town Penitential Service will be at St Joseph’s on Monday 21st December at 7.30pm.

READERS: Allreaders are asked to come to the meeting, on Monday 30th November 7.30pm in church. Readers will be commissioned on Sunday 6th December at all Masses. If you would like to read at Mass, please come to the meeting.

YEAR OF MERCY: Pope Francis has called for an extraordinary Jubilee year of mercy to commence on 8th December with the opening of the Holy Door in Rome. Bishop Peter will open the Holy Door in the Cathedral on Tuesday 8th December at 7.00pm. All are welcome to this special Mass

HOLY HOUR on Sunday 13th December at Holy Ghost Church between

3.00 - 4.00pm to mark the beginning of the year of Mercy.

BISHOP PETER: will be sharing his impressions of the Synod on the Family, which he attended in Rome along with Cardinal Nichols and his thoughts on what this means for our diocese at at St Augustine's, Heelands, Milton Keynes MK13 7PL on Wednesday 9th December (Tea & coffee from 7 pm). All welcome.

VACANCY: fora Director of School Developmentat NORES, which supports Catholic education and formation in the Northampton Diocese. Initially the key focus will be on the academisation of our schools. We are looking for a strong candidate who has the skills to guide our schools through this time of change and help establish the strategy going forward. CHRISTMAS BAZAAR: Friends of St Martin’s are holding their Christmas Bazaar on Friday 4th December 6.00 - 8.00pm. All very welcome!

ACT OF WITNESS: in support of life and against abortion outside the Luton & Dunstable hospital on Saturday 12th December 1.00-2.00pm. There continues to be hundreds of unborn children from this area and thousands nationwide, who do not come to birth. Please come to give them a voice and to pray for all those involved.
