MCUPA-HR GENERAL MEMBERSHIP SPRING MEETING 2009

May 4, 2009

MINUTES

Mary Throener called the meeting to order at 4:00 pm and Board members were introduced. Mary then introduced Andy Brantley, CUPA CEO and other CUPA staff. They discussed the resources available through the organization, specifically via the website.

FINANCIAL DATA: Brenda Jones read the financial report.

FALL 2008 CONFERENCE UPDATE: Mary referred to everyone to the minutes for this information.

SPRING 2009 CONFERENCE: Mary commented how nice it was to have our business meeting in conjunction with CUPA. Brenda Jones was the recipient of the drawing for expenses paid to the national conference in Vegas. The names will be kept in the event an alternate needs to be drawn.

FALL CONFERENCE 2009: Will be held November 5-6, 2009 at either Port Arrowhead or Inn at Grand Glaize.

SPRING CONFERENCE 2010: Hosts this time will be Columbia College and University of Missouri-Columbia. This conference is usually held the end of March or first of April. The exact dates will need to be determined by the hosts.

MEMBERSHIP UPDATE: Brenda mentioned that we now have 140 individuals and 42 member institutions. The newest members are Evangel College in Springfield, Southeast Missouri State in Cape Girardeau, and Stephens College. She commented that CUPA is very engaged and supportive of local chapters and encouraged everyone to consider Board membership in CUPA.

REVISION OF MCUPA BY-LAWS: Our group’s old name was MCUPA (Missouri College and University Personnel Association) and is now MCUPA-HR (Missouri College and University Professional Association for Human Resources). We are waiting on formal approval from the Missouri Secretary of State’s office. We will need a new sign to reflect our new name. The website is in process, but may be difficult to keep updated. A suggestion was made that we think about Twitter or Facebook and that we discuss this at the fall meeting.

Patty Fischer motioned, Jatha Sadowski seconded, and the meeting was adjourned at 4:38 pm.

Respectfully submitted,

Ann Parks

Board Secretary
