Gathering Hymn.…....Joyful, Joyful, We Adore Thee…...#836

Joyful, joyful we adore thee, God of glory, Lord of love! Hearts unfold like flow’rs before thee, praising thee, their sun above. Melt the clouds of sin and sadness, drive the gloom of doubt away. Giver of immortal gladness, fill us with the light of day.

All thy works with joy surround thee, earth and heav’n reflect thy rays, stars and angels sing around thee, center of unbroken praise. Field and forest, vale and mountain, flow’ry meadow, flashing sea, chanting bird, and flowing fountain call us to rejoice in thee.

Thou art giving and forgiving, ever blessing, ever blest, well spring of the joy of living, ocean depth of happy rest! Thou our Father, Christ our brother, all who live in love are thine; teach us how to love each other, lift us to the joy divine!

Hymn of the Day……………Christ, Be Our Light……….….#715

Longing for light, we wait in darkness. Longing for truth, we turn to you. Make us your own, your holy people, light for the world to see.

Refrain:

Christ, be our light! Shine in our hearts. Shine through the darkness. Christ, be our light! Shine in your church gathered today.

Longing for peace, our world in troubled. Longing for hope, many despair. Your word alone has pow’r to save us. Make us your living voice. Refrain.

Longing for food, many are hungry. Longing for water, many still thirst. Make us your bread, broken for others, shared until all are fed. Refrain.

Longing for shelter, many are homeless. Longing for

warmth, many are cold. Make us your building,

sheltering others, wall made of living stone. Refrain.

Many the gifts, many the people, many the hearts that yearn to belong. Let us be servants to one another, signs of your kingdom come. Refrain.

Apostles Creed……….…….……………..…………………Page 105

C: I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of

heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, God’s

only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy

Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under

Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried;

he descended to the dead. On the third day he rose

again; he ascended into heaven, he is seated at the

right hand of the Father, and he will come to judge

the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit,

the holy catholic church, the communion of saints,

the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body,

and the life everlasting. Amen.

Prayers of Intercession

P: Hidden yet ever-present God, always loving, never

tiring, we seek your aid. Lord in your mercy.

C: Hear our prayer.

P: You see the unrevealed suffering of innumerable

souls, and hear the raw weeping of your countless

children. Lord in your mercy.

C: Hear our prayer.

P: O let your breath be upon all you see, your hands upon

all disease, your arms around all distress, and your kiss

on all tormented minds. Lord in your mercy.

C: Hear our prayer.

P: Hidden yet ever-present God, please do for us those

things that we cannot do for ourselves, yet make us

bold to do what we can do. Lord in your mercy.

C: Hear our prayer.

P: For the healing of your world and the glory of your

name, we ask that you hear all our prayers and

whatever else is heavy on our hearts. Through Christ

Jesus, our redeemer.

Sending Hymn..…...What A Friend We Have in Jesus..…#742

What a friend we have in Jesus, all our sins and griefs to bear! What a privalege to carry ev’rything to God in prayer! Oh, what peace we often forfeit; oh, what needless pain we bear - all because we do not carry ev’rything to God in prayer!

Have we trials and temptations? Is there trouble anywhere? We should never be discouraged - take it to the Lord in prayer. Can we find a friend so faithful who will all our sorrows share? Jesus knows our ev’ry weakness - take it to the Lord in prayer!

Are we weak and heavy laden, cumbered with a load of care? Precious Saviour, still our refuge - take it to the Lord in prayer. Do your friends despise, forsake you? Take to the Lord in prayer. In his arms he’ll take and shield you; you will find a solace there.

P: Go in peace. Share God’s love with all!

C: Thanks be to God!
