The Deddington Village Fete in support of Deddington School PTA takes place on the school field on Saturday 2nd July from 12.30 to 4.00pm. We will be running our usual ‘Hook a Duck’ stall in aid of the Nursery and PFSU. Come along and see us!

NURSERY NEWS
We would like to welcome Evalyn and Cecilia to the group and hope they enjoy the exciting summer term.
The Summer term is always a very busy time and parents are asked to keep an eye on their inboxes and Nursery pigeon holes as there is always lots of important information to collect.
This term we are thinking about how we care for our bodies; how we use them, feed them and generally look after ourselves. We will be talking about healthy eating and what is a healthy lunch box. Look out for notification of when your child will be making their own lunch at Nursery. As we are concentrating on good healthy food, we would ask all parents to send fruit into Nursery as their snack donation this term.
Our plans for Sports Day have changed. Please note that we will no longer be joining the PFSU on Friday 24th June but will hold our sports event on the playing field beside the Nursery garden. We will begin the event at 9.45am,and hope to finish at around 10.45am for an early picnic lunch. This will give those families with children in PFSU the chance to go straight down to school to watch their sports day. This event will not take place in the event of prolonged wet weather on the day. Please phone us at the Nursery if in doubt!

We will be visiting the PFSU on several occasions this term
( dates to be confirmed ). This will give all the children the opportunity to think about looking after themselves by the road, and it will give those children moving up to the PFSU in September the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the PFSU staff and setting.
There will also be a ‘move-up’ day for all the new children who are going to the PFSU in September to visit the PFSU without the Nursery staff. This will be on Monday 11th Julyat 1.40pm. Children at Nursery that day will be taken to the PFSU by the Nursery staff. Other children will need to be taken to the PFSU by parents or carers. The children can be left for the afternoon and will have a chance to play and get to know the new environment of the PFSU. The normal Nursery session will run that afternoon for those children who are not involved in the ‘move-up’ day.
There will also be an opportunity for parents to informally visit the PFSU on either Tuesday5th or Wednesday6th July any time between 3.30pm and 4.30pm ( with or without children ). This will be a chance for you to see the children’s new classroom and to raise any questions and concerns with the staff. The PFSU is situated behind Deddington Primary School. Follow the path past the school reception and along the side of the school. If the security gate is shut please press the buzzer and we will let you in! We are the separate building beyond the main school building. Follow the path round to the far side of the building and come in through the first set of doors.
We intend to be out and about a lot this term and it is therefore essential that the children have sun cream and sun hats at Nursery. Good walking shoes and appropriate clothes for the Summer sunshine are also important to the children’s wellbeing. / PFSU NEWS
This term our topic is ‘Keeping fit and healthy’. Amongst many other activities we will be doing some healthy cooking, taking part in Sports Day, visiting the allotments, and of course preparing for the move to school. It promises to be a busy term!
Our PFSU Sports Day is on Friday 24th June, weather permitting! The event will start at 11.15am on the Deddington Primary School field. For those of you who have not been involved before, this is a very informal event with each child taking part in several different races. All parents are welcome to come along and watch. Please meet us at the PFSU by 11.15am ( you will need to press the buzzer on the security gate next to the school office and we will let you in ). Meet in the PFSU garden and we will walk to the field together once the school break time has finished and the school children are off the playground. Please bring a picnic / packed lunch for yourself and your child, which they can enjoy eating in the PFSU garden after the races. This event will not take place in the event of wet weather on the day. Please phone us at the PFSU if in doubt!
There will be a chance for those children who are moving on to Deddington Primary School to visit the F1 class onMonday 11th July at 1.30pm. The Nursery children who are moving to the PFSU will also visit us on this afternoon. We will take any children who are at the PFSU that afternoon through to the F1 class so that you do not need to collect them in the middle of the day. We would ask that you pick your children up directly from the F1 classroom doors at 3pm, as the visiting Nursery children will be collected from us at pre-school at the end of the afternoon. Children who are not moving up to Deddington Primary School are of course welcome to stay with us as usual, and to help to show the younger children the ropes.
This term we will be having an outing to the Deddington allotments to support our current topic. We will be looking at the different fruit and vegetables growing there and maybe tasting some of them. This visit will take place onMonday 27th June at 9.30am. Childrennot in session that day but wishing to join us will need to be accompanied by a parent or other adult for the duration of the visit, or to be booked in for an ad hoc session. We also hope to visit the Castle Grounds on Wednesday 6th July at 9.30am. In the event of prolonged rain these visits will not take place so please call us if in any doubt.
Please ensure that your child has a sun hat and sun cream available at the PFSU at all times. Also, if you have not already, please bring in a ‘PE kit’ ( shorts, T-shirt, and shoes suitable for running in ) for your child so that they can practice getting changed for sports activities, in preparation for school.

THANK-YOU!
  • A huge thank you to everyone who came along to the Four Farms Challenge. It was a fantastic day and a brilliant fund-raiser. Well done to all the organisers and all of you who took part. We raised over £1000!
