This class is a teacher development program that provides a high quality education for our community through effective teaching practices and learning partnerships.T.E.A.M Teach creates a team approach to a successful college experience, college going advocacy and retention, and strengthening the 3 stages of the teacher education pipeline (recruit, travel, exit).
“Introduction to Teaching” is an orientation class for prospective classroom teachers. It includes: survey of teaching needs; methods and procedures; control and organization; requirements for teaching; teacher placement; educational curriculum and technology; student guidance and school materials. / 1. Given six specific prompts, the student will be able to critically assess and write 200 - 400 word essays on text-introduced topics of current educational issues.
2. Given a choice of current educational issues, the student will be able to publicly explain and/or debate, using up-to-date statistics and proofs to defend their belief in the issue.
3. Given an assigned educational topic, the student will compose an informal expository MLA-style research report that shows an understanding of the writing process and is technically correct and demonstrates higher level critical thinking skills.
/ 1. At least 80% of the class will pass the six assessments with a holistically-read grade of 'C' or better.
2. At least 80% of the class will pass the speech project assessment with a holistically-recorded grade of 'C' or better.
3. At least 80% of the class will pass the research project assessment with a holistically-read grade of 'C' or better.
