1.  Problem statement – Describe the scientific problem or capability gap to be addressed, and its clinical significance.

2.  Goals and Objectives – Describe how the problem will be addressed, including the overall goals and specific objectives.

3.  Background – Provide prior results that support the proposed project, with references including manuscript titles.

4.  Strategy – Describe the scientific strategy study, design, and logistics. Include how the study design will address the project goals and objectives. Describe the research activities and who will conduct them.

5.  Expected benefits – Describe the potential public health, clinical, and/or regulatory impact of the project. Why is this project appropriate for the Biomarkers Consortium?

6.  Intellectual Property

6.1 Describe the pre-competitive nature of the project.

6.2 Describe pre-existing intellectual property (IP) that could have a bearing on the project.

6.3 List any relevant existing patents and patent applications held by key participants in the project (include patent number, title, submission date).

6.4 Describe any new IP that may be generated.

7.  List any known risks and contingencies.

8.  Funding

8.1.  Provide a brief budget estimate outlining how the funds will be utilized.

8.2.  Identify known and potential relevant funding partners.

8.3.  Indicate whether this project has been submitted elsewhere for funding, and if applicable, any potential funding overlap.

9.  Provide an explanation of the proposed study duration.

10.  Provide any additional comments, information, or letters of support or collaboration (if relevant).

11.  Provide a 3-page biosketch for each key investigator in the project.
