Question 6 – Project description

Write a brief description of the project. This should provide those assessing the application with a good understanding of the project including the issues it focusses on, how it proposes to address them, and any particular locations, communities, industries etc. that are being targeted.

Question 7 – Project objectives

List the project’s objectives – what is it aiming to achieve? The number of objectives will vary depending on the nature of the project however it is unlikely that any project would have more than six. When forming these also be aware that later in the application (Question 9) you will be required to detail the methodology and deliverables associated with each objective.

Question 8 – Project alignmentwith relevant plans and strategies

Please describe how the project aligns with relevant plans and strategies. Of particular interest is how the project relates to the priorities identified in the SAMDB Regional Action Plan. Information on subregional priorities (for the areas listed in Question 4) can be found at

Question 9 – Methodology and deliverables

For each of your project’s objectives (as listed in Question 7), identify how your project will achieve them (methodology) and describe the specific deliverables for each 6 month reporting period. Each deliverable must be measurable and should provide sufficient detail for assessors to gain a good understanding of your proposed project (i.e. ‘2 community workshops on topic X’ rather than just ‘workshops’). You will be required to report in detail on these deliverables.

Question 10 – Standard project outputs

Standard outputs are required to enable collation and reporting of contributions to Regional and Australian Government targets. The table is separated into Sustainable Environment and Sustainable Agriculture outputs to match the National Landcare Programme’s separate funding streams and reporting processes. Question 11 – Capability and capacity

It is essential that the organisation submitting the proposal has the appropriate governance structures, resources and financial capacity to successfully deliver the project and meet the contractual obligations. Outline your organisation’s capability and capacity in relation to delivering this project.

Question 12 – Local knowledge, experience and involvement

Describe your organisation’s knowledge of the project area and its community, and discuss your experience delivering this type of project. Outline how the local community has been involved in the development of the project and how they will be involved in managing its delivery. Please attach letters of support from relevant people / organisations.

Question 14 – Partnerships

Describe any partnerships that will be developed and/or supported through this project. Of particular interest are partnerships that can be established which create improved effectiveness and efficiency of delivery across the region, and those which will help to maintain the project’s outcomes into the future. Identify who will be involved in your project, at what level you intend to engage them, and how you will do this.

Question 17 – Monitoring, Evaluation, Reporting and Improvement (MERI)

Please describe how you will monitor and evaluate the success of your project with respect to its:

  • Impact – what has changed as a result of the project’s activities?
  • Effectiveness – were the planned activities and objectives achieved?
  • Appropriateness – did the project meet the needs of the community and use best practice?
  • Efficiency – was the project undertaken in the most efficient way?

Successful projects will also be required to answer a number of additional standard key evaluation questions for regional program-wide MERI.

In addition to answering key evaluation questions projects must also ensure that adequate data / information is collected to enable 6-monthly reporting on project objectives (as identified in Question 7), deliverables (as identified in Question 9) and standard outputs (as identified in Question 10).

A standard post-event evaluation form for participants will be provided to all successful applicants to enable training events, workshops, etc. to be evaluated in a consistent manner across the region. It is a requirement of funding that this form be used and that the data is reported back.
