2013 Application Checklist

Formatting Guidelines
Font allowable: 11 point Arial or 11 point Calibri. Narrow fonts are not to be used
Margins: at least 2cm with clear definitions between paragraphs. No columns to be used
Word and page limits will be strictly enforced
It is strongly recommended that nominations are proofread prior to submission

Each Nominator has completed the ‘Reasons for Nominating’ text box
Signed by both Nominators and Nominee / Team representative

Written Statement by Nominee
Written Statement contains the following components, in order:
  1. Synopsis (150–200 words, written in the third person)
  2. Addressing teaching area or discipline, teaching experience, the particular focus of their teaching, teaching methods, and their research/teaching interests

  1. Overview

  1. Statement addressing each of the five criteria in turn:
  2. Approaches to teaching that influence, motivate and inspire students to learn
  3. Development of curricula and resources that reflect a command of the field
  4. Approaches to assessment and feedback that foster independent learning
  5. Respect and support for the development of students as individuals
  6. Scholarly activities that have influenced and enhanced learning and teaching

Evidence in support of the claims against these criteria must be provided including the views of students, collaborators and/or colleagues, as appropriate
Written Statement formatted correctly (as per Formatting Guidelines)
Written Statement is limited to eight A4 pages
Curriculum Vitae
3 A4 pages outliningeducational qualifications, career history, teaching positions teaching experience
  • Individuals - 3 A4 pages maximum
  • Teams may allow for one additional page per team member i.e., a team of three may have five pages (three + two)

References
Two references:
  • One must be from the head of the nominee’s School, Faculty or Administrative unit
  • Provided by people able to comment on the nominee’s contribution to student learning against the nominated selection criteria

Each reference is no more than one A4 page each
For Team nominations, references should apply to the team
Optional supporting materials
Selected teaching materials supporting claims against selection criteria may be included.
  • The relevance of any such material must be made clear in the written statement
  • Nominees are encouraged, where possible, to provide digital material via a single URL
  • Only one copy of supporting materials should be provided

Limited to a maximum of two:
  1. website (URL)
  2. audio, video or other media files in commonly accessible formats (e.g. .WAV, .AIF, .MP3, .MID, .MPG, .MOV, .WMV, .RM) and/or
  3. the equivalent of 10 pages of printed material in PDF (additional pages will be removed)

List details of the range of teaching responsibilities performed within the last three years
Submission to Contact Officer
Collate in order: Nomination Form, Written Statement, List of Teaching Responsibilities and 2 references into one .pdf document
