Monitoring and measuring resources—
Clause 7.1.5 (this checklist is to be used in conjunction with the “All Processes” checklist)
1.  Describe the process to ensure valid and reliable results when monitoring or measuring is used to verify the conformity of products or services to requirements. Does it include quality system, process, and product measurements?
2.  How do you ensure that resources are suitable for measurement and monitoring being performed? How do you ensure that continuing fitness for purpose is maintained? (Verify effective implementation of measuring processes and record results to the right.)
3.  (Use the remainder of this checklist where internal or external parties—or both—require measurement traceability.)
4.  Is measuring equipment verified or calibrated at specified intervals, or prior to use? How do you define the equipment that requires calibration? May I see it please? (Review records for X samples at random to verify that equipment has been calibrated or verified at specified intervals. Record results to the right. Use these samples to complete the questions below.)
5.  (Where equipment was found to be out of calibration or otherwise unfit for use, verify that previous results were reviewed and that appropriate actions were taken where those results could have adversely affected decisions reached.)
6.  Does this process include any quality-critical equipment owned by others?
7.  Were standards used to calibrate this equipment traceable to a nationally recognized standard? If not, is the basis used for calibration clearly documented? (Pull certificates of traceability—or other basis for calibration—for those standards used to verify the equipment reviewed above.)
8.  (Verify that equipment is identified to determine its status.)
9.  How is equipment safeguarded from adjustments, damage, or deterioration that would invalidate the calibration status and subsequent measurement results? (Verify conformance and record results to the right.)
