Why? As Shadow Minister for Finance, Lindsay Tanner is one of Labor’s key economic decision makers. He and other Labor Shadow Ministers will soon be finalising Labor’s election promises. So far in 2007, Federal Labor has been very quiet about the Commonwealth State & Territory Disability Agreement (the CSTDA) and their other disability policies. What are their plans? What will Labor promise to do if elected to government?

The Federal Government’s Disability Assistance Package (DAP) announced on 28th June 2007 included some welcome commitments, but also raised many questions. Have Mr Costello and his Liberal colleagues listened to the concerns of people with disabilities and families about the DAP package? How will The Liberals build and improve on the DAP if re-elected to government?

The Victorian government’s approach to CSTDA negotiations during 2007 has been extremely disappointing. Will the new Premier and the new Minister for Community Services, Lisa Neville, take the initiative and inspire Federal Labor and the Liberals to do what’s right with the CSTDA for Victorians with a disability and their families?

All federal political parties and the State Government have been invited to speak at the rally to explain what they will do for people with disabilities and their families in the future, including their approach to the CSTDA. There will be opportunities for questions and for the audience to address the rally.

Everybody welcome!!!

This rally will be child and family friendly. It has been organised with full co-operation from Victoria Police and other authorities. Organised as part of a national day of action through the National CSTDA Community Alliance,
