CHEMISTRY-O-RAMA: A Cumulative Exam Project

Task:Demonstrate your understanding of the chemistry topics learned this year through a project of your choosing.

All work must be 100% original and adhere to standard plagiarism rules. Material must be from prior lesson material.

Project Types: Circle your selection

  • Create a theatrical play: Script must be turned in with the play

  • A comic book must have at least four full pages.
  • A children’s book must have at least eight pages.

Other, as approved by me. If I say no once, don’t ask again for fear of losing points.

In the space below, identify what project type you are thinking about choosing & why. If you choose more than one make a list of + & - for each.

General Guidelines

  • Student must confirm project type & subject list no later than ______.
  • There will be points earned in class based on progress made toward completion.
  • The project MUST be turned in by ______.

Requirements:Your project should include

5 of chemistry subjects you have already studied and

2 subjects from 2nd semester

at least 5ideas from each of the selected topics

diversity of ideas

diversity of depth of information on each topic, that is, it contains information presented in each of the following “categories”

chemistry facts

examples of the idea/topic

real life application questions

Subjects:

  • Safety
  • Intro to chemical engineering
  • Matter as Molecules
  • Properties
  • Reaction rates
  • Atomic Structure
  • Electron structure & Light
  • Periodic Table
  • Properties of compounds

You may choose to expand your knowledge in an area instead of selecting another topic (no more than 2 expansions). Research used to extend knowledge must be included as part of a works cited in MLA format. For example, project topic choices may look like these instead:

  • Safety
  • Matter as Molecules
  • Properties
  • Electrons & Light
  • Expanded knowledge on electrons & light
  • Intro to chemical engineering
  • Expanded knowledge on chemical engineering
  • Atomic structure
  • Properties of compounds
  • Expanded knowledge on properties of compounds

In the space below list the subjects you are choosing &/or extending knowledge

These following areas will be scored:

1) Chemistry material must be covered well, that is information within each subject should be diverse.

2) Quality, depth & accuracy of the information presented.

3) Quality of the final project and adherence to the accepted criteria specific to the type of project.

4) The extent to which the criteria outlined above are met.

BONUS points given if I feel I will use project for future chemistry classes.
