Handsome Feline, with Great Personality, Seeking Permanent Relationship:

I am moving out of state in the next few months, so I am hoping to find a good home for my cat, Mumble. I cannot take him with me because the people I am going to be living with have a pit-bull and a small child.

When I first took Mumble in, it was only to be temporary. I had just lost my cat due to FIV and I wasn't quite ready for a new one. I couldn't refuse to give him a place to stay though, because it’s so hard to find a good home for kitties. He is up to date with all his shots and tested negative for both Feline Leukemia and FIV. I'd say he is about two years old now, but still very much a kitten.

He was a feral kitten, so he has a cropped ear, but he has been successfully domesticated. He has never had an accident outside the litter box. He is shy around new people, but once he warms up to a person, he absolutely loves to play and be brushed. He is a black and white kitty with quite the personality. He is especially fond of playing chase and “poofs” himself up with a squeak to let you know that he is ready. He may do very well with another cat for company, but since I can only afford to care for one I haven't had the opportunity to try socializing him with others. I do know he is very curious about other kitties as he watches them roam past my apartment windows. Because of traffic where I live, I have kept him as an indoor kitty, but he might enjoy fresh air from time to time if someone is willing to work with him. I do not recommend leash-training, though.

He is not particularly fond of dogs and he may not do well with small children because he does nip, but this is only for attention and in play. I’m told that these are called “love bites” by other cat-owners. He also does not like to be held, but he will sit beside a person to be petted or brushed. Actually, he has decided that every morning when I brush my hair, he should have his brushed too.

He recently started purring quietly, which he hadn't done at all when I first began sharing my home with him. Every now and then, he will jump into my lap but he is really not a lap cat. He absolutely loves to look out windows and chase bugs. He will be happy to show you all of his favorite toys.

Hopefully someone out there can provide him with a good, safe, and loving permanent home. He’s really a great cat. I love him and I wish I could take him with me, but unfortunately, I have been told that I absolutely cannot.

Thank you so much,

Christine & Mumble
