Course Description: This self-study program consists of seven modules for the RN program and nine modules for the LPN program. Students may begin the program at any time and have two years to complete it. Upon completion of all modules, the pre-clinical post- test may be ordered. After successful completion of this post-test the student may be required to complete a clinical component. A clinical placement service is offered for students residing in areas of southwest Idaho. Clinical placement is not guaranteed. Please do not pay the fee for this service until placement is confirmed. If clinical placement is not possible, you must arrange your own clinical placement. You must have an active license or temporary license, issued by the Idaho Board of Nursing, during your clinical.
Overview: This program is designed to meet the needs of RNs or LPNs who have been previously licensed, have been out of a clinical setting for less than 20 years and wish to return to active practice. There are three components to the course: 1) the self-study modules, 2) post- test and 3) clinical preceptorship. The self-study modules and post-test must be completed before the clinical component is arranged. The clinical preceptorship needs to be completed within 8 weeks from the clinical start date. If you have been out of nursing under 10 years, you will need to complete a minimum of 80 hours of clinical time; over 10 years, you will need a minimum of 120 hours; over 15 years, a minimum of 120 hours plus extra course work assigned by the Board of Nursing will need to be completed.
***If you have been out of nursing for 20+ years, you are no longer eligible for a refresher program
