Monday
Nov 7 (Day 55) / Tuesday
Nov 8 (Student Holiday) / Wednesday
Nov 9 (Day 56) / Thursday
Nov 10 (Day 57) / Friday
Nov 11 (Day 58)
Mathematics, Accelerated Grade 6
Learning Objective: I will solve problems involving scale drawings and similar figures.
ENGAGE: Warm-up: over Scale Factor
EXPLORE: How can we prove that a pair of polygons are similar? Using proportions? Using scale factor?
EXPLAIN: Scale models and drawings create similar figures. Use Daily organizer or PPT with examples from Course 3 pg.121-124 to model using proportional relationships to determine missing measurements.
ELABORATE: How can you determine missing measures of similar figures. Describe 2 ways.
Homework: WS: Homework/PS 2-2 or Pg. 124 #1-4 and 125-126 1-12 / Mathematics, Accelerated Grade 6
Election Day! / Mathematics, Accelerated Grade 6
Learning Objective: I will compare and contrast the attributes of a shape and its dilation.
ENGAGE: Warm-up over 4-1 (Scale Drawings)
EXPLORE: Where have you heard the word "dilation". What do you think it means?
EXPLAIN: Use PPT 2-3 or examples from Course 3 pgs 138-139 to model dilations as enlargements or reductions by using scale factor and corresponding parts. Stress that a scale factor greater than one creates and enlargement and a scale factor less than one reduces the size of the figure.
ELABORATE: Graph points on a coordinate plane, determine the shape, apply a scale factor and graph the image.
Homework: WS: Homework/PS 2-3 or Pgs.140 #1-4 and Pgs. 141 #1-9 / Mathematics, Accelerated Grade 6
Learning Objective: I will model the effects of scale factor (dilation)on perimeter and area of similar figures.
ENGAGE: Warm-up: hand back andgo over missed questions on quiz.
EXPLORE: What is the difference between perimeter and area? Hands on activity Course 3 pg. 146.
EXPLAIN: Based on the activity, students will describe the relationship between perimeters and areas of dilated figures.
ELABORATE: Use Examples from Course 3 pgs 150-153or PPT 2-4, to model perimeter and area of similar figures created by dilations.
Homework: WS: Homework/PS 2-4 or pg152#1-4 PG 153-154 #1-10 / Mathematics, Accelerated Grade 6
Learning Objective: I will create dilations using scale factor and solve for missing measurements of similar figures.
ENGAGE: Warm-up over similar figures and dilations.
EXPLORE: None today
EXPLAIN: Answer any questions over Homework.
ELABORATE: Quiz 7A
EVALUATE: Quiz 7A
Homework: WS: Unit7 review
