PRESCHOOL MANAGEMENT

TO DO EVERY DAY:

BEFORE CHILDREN ARRIVE:

  Unlock all 22 cupboards and outside door

  Feed fish

  Up date parent info board: new calendars, snack calendar, new sign in sheet, new show and tell letter

  Review day- check snack

  Set up discovery- chairs, set out materials so it is enticing for the children

  Fold laundry

  Gather children=s smocks

  Unload dishwasher, perhaps fill with dirty dishes

  Prepare teach/evaluation clipboards for student grading

WHEN CHILDREN ARRIVE AND DURING CLASS:

  Greet each child so they feel welcome

  Direct parents to sign-in sheet

  Count children every few minutes

  Child safety

  Take roll: high school students and children

  Hand back lesson plans and graded assignments

  Keep schedule running smooth

  Take pictures

BEFORE CHILDREN LEAVE:

  Have parents look for information in their cubbies

  Have parents sign out

  Say good-bye to each child, parent

WHEN ALL CHILDREN LEAVE:

  Correct assignments record teaching/evaluation grades

  Review next day

  Meet with parents and students for help

  Record anecdotal notes

  Dishes

  Laundry- towels, smocks

  Chairs up

  T-san areas not done- usually only counters in kitchen and sink areas

  Set up discovery

  Mail box- make deposit and file scholastic forms

  Lock all 22 cupboards and outside door

MONDAY

  New scholastic form in cubbies (prepared from the previous Friday)

  Center and kitchen maintenance forms out (assign to students as they are free)

  Remind students lesson plans due Wed.

  Always watch for poor student judgement

  Let students assess, file, hang stuff up(children=s literacy posters, new calendars)

  Pass back graded assignments

  Say good-bye to each child as they leave. Parent relations

  Have students gather things for Wed./ Thurs. activities

TUESDAY

  Have free students fill out center and kitchen maintenance forms

  Always watch for poor student judgement

  Remind students lesson plans due Wed.

  Let students assess, file, hang stuff up

  Pass back graded assignments

WEDNESDAY

  Have free students fill out center and kitchen maintenance forms

  Have 3rd and 5th gather Friday activity materials

  Pass back graded assignments

  CORRECT STUDENT LESSON PLANS

THURSDAY

  Have free students fill out center and kitchen maintenance forms

  Collect missing lesson plans (80 points)

  Always watch for poor student judgement

  Let students assess, file, hang stuff up

  Have 4th gather Friday activity materials

  Update grades on computer print out

  Pass back graded assignments

  Xerox off lesson plans for next week for bulletin board and discovery cover sheets

FRIDAY

  Go over problem lesson plans with students

  Put away discovery materials- after discovery

  Collect missing lesson plans (70 points)

  Gather discovery for following week

  Hand out grades from Friday

FRIDAY AFTER SCHOOL

  Throw away dough products

  Assign next week=s assessment times, kitchen cleaning times, and center cleaning times

  Put new book orders in cubbies

  Calculate and give Moyle scholastic book orders

  Make shopping list from lesson plans and snack calendar

  Pin up next weeks lesson plans for parents

  Shop for groceries

MONTHLY

  Make high school assignment calendar

planning meetings one month before topic begins, holidays, prep day, lesson plans due, group projects sign ups, major projects

  Make snack calendar

  Make parent event calendar

project phases, days off, older/ younger, book orders due, letters for Mon and Tues

  Make newsletter
