Business Systems Co-ordinator

This is an exciting new role that provides an opportunity to lead a challenging, strategic project in a growing organisation with the support of a university supervisor from Teesside Manufacturing Centre (TMC) in the School of Science and Engineering.

Company Background:
GreenCare design and produce bespoke wheelchairs for individuals both in the UK and, since 2011, export markets. Started in 2006, Greencare are now the second largest producer of prescription wheelchairs to the NHS and are the last mainstream manufacturer/assembler of wheelchairs in the UK. Greencare are an innovative company born from the invention of puncture proof tyres for wheelchairs in 1992 by the other company in the Group, ‘Greentyre’.

It is a small company of just under 30 people but is a company known worldwide. In the last 20 years it has won over 20 prestigious awards for innovation, quality and export achievement. Most recently, in 2012, it was a Smart Award winner for its development of a bariatric wheelchair. The company is proud of its ‘green’ credentials having tried to minimise its impact on the planet. It has been recognised by a leading French company for its Ethical Standards in relation to its staff and the community in which it functions.

The company is committed to UK manufacturing, is nimble in its approach and enjoys a ‘can-do’ philosophy. It is a company that recognises its corporate responsibility and this is best shown with a workforce over half of whom have been with the company over 12 years – more than half the life of the company since formation.

Role Requirements

The successful candidate will be responsible for analysing and improving the efficiency of the company’s current systems and processes. This will include the coordination and execution of the necessary activities involved in the implementation of a new ERP system and Lean concepts. This will involve stock management, production planning and customer contact management. Anticipated outputs will enable the company to be more responsive to customer requirements, to have increased control over the production abnd be able to produce accurate management information. Ultimately, the company seeks an enthusiastic individual who wants to contribute to the company’s growth.

Specific tasks will include:

1.  To undertake an initial Induction and project initiation

2.  To undertake a business / industry review to ensure comprehensive understanding.

3.  To review and audit the current processes and systems

4.  To develop standard operation procedures.

5.  To co-ordinate initial software training in conjunction with key personnel within Green Mobility

6.  To gain familiarisation with selected ERP System.

7.  To implement a culture change process

8.  To embed Lean concepts in the organisation.

9.  To support supply chain and warehouse improvement activities

10.  Define the Solution for basic implementation within

·  Enquiry and Sales management

·  Project Management

·  Purchasing

·  Stock control

·  Manufacturing

·  Quality

11.  Carry out data migration, pilot testing and the preparation of required management reports.

12.  Management of Go-Live process

Support:

The initial 12 months of this role will be supported by an academic supervisor from Teesside University, who will provide regular guidance and assistance throughout. There will also be some training budget available to support personal development requirements.
