Washington State Telemedicine Collaborative
Application to Serve on the Collaborative
Thank you for your interest in serving on the Telemedicine Collaborative as set up by Senate Bill 6519. The scope of the Collaborative’s work is as follows: “The Collaborative shall develop recommendations on improving reimbursement and access to services, including reviewing the originating site restrictions or additions proposed in this bill, provider to provider consultative models, and technologies and models of care not currently reimbursed. The Collaborative must identify telemedicine best practices, guidelines, billing requirements, and fraud prevention developed by recognized medical and telemedicine organizations. The Collaborative must also make recommendation on whether to create a technical assistance center in Washington to support providers in implementing or expanding services delivered through telemedicine.”
Membership on the Collaborative will be as follows:
- Legislators (4) – 1 from each caucus
- Representative of the academic community (1)
- Hospitals (2) – 1 rural; 1 urban
- Clinics (2) – 1 either RHC or FQHC (priority on rural); 1 large group clinic (50+ prescribing level providers)
- Health care providers in primary care and specialty care (3) – 1 primary care provider; 1 specialty care provider; 1 mental health/psychiatric provider
- Health insurance carriers (4) – at least 2 commercial, at least 1 MCO
- Other interested parties (2) – TBD, as interested (post-acute care, business, patient, public, technical experts are possibilities)
- Chair: Dr. John Scott, UW Medicine (Per SB 6519: “The collaborative shall be hosted by the University of Washington telehealth services.”)
