OTHER DENOMINATION (OF)

APPROVAL for APPOINTMENT (Part 2) ¶ 346.2

Persons from other denominations that are serving in Federated/Union churches at the call of the other denomination are presumed to meet all credentialing requirements of that denomination and will be supervised under the appropriate supervisory process of that denomination. These persons are still required to be Safe Gatherings certified prior to the start of service in the Federated/Union church.

Within five (5) months of start of appointment as OF (and/or assignment as DSA) and prior to a District Committee on Ordained Ministry interview, the following must be completed/provided:

_____ Form 05 – Other (submit ASAP to Conference Registrar to start background check and psychological assessment processes)

_____ Completion of background check

_____ Completion of valid psychological evaluation

_____ Photo

_____ Form 06 Candidate Disclosure Form

_____ Form 07 Medical Report

_____ Form 08 Biographical Information Form

_____ Form 10 Application for Clergy Relationship

_____ Transcripts documenting College and Seminary Work

_____ Credentialing Interview by District Committee of Ordained Ministry

_____ Courtesy Interview with the Conference Relations Committee within the first year of appointment

_____ Assignment to a Local Pastor mentoring group for a minimum of one year

_____ Completion of courses in United Methodist History, Doctrine and Polity at an approved seminary or through the UM Studies program at Mount Sequoyah (within two years of start of appointment)

Note: If the candidate has not met all criteria to continue initial OF status within five (5) months, the candidate will revert to a District Superintendent Assignment (DSA) status. The District Office will need to submit an Interim Change of Appointment form and a DSA salary worksheet. When all DCOOM criteria for Part 2 of OF status have been met, the District Office will submit an Appointment of Clergy from Other AC or Denomination and an Interim Change of Appointment form along with a Clergy Support Worksheet.
