EXPLOSIVE FACILITY ‘A’ – DETAILS:

GENERAL INFORMATION:

Explosive Facility A is located in an area traditionally known as William’s Field.

There is no site fire fighting service, only fire extinguishers, beaters and other immediate fire fighting equipment. There is however a civil defence force fire service station approximately 5 miles away, which would take approximately 8 minutes for fire engines to arrive at the facility. This should be deemed to be adequate fire fighting facilities for the purposes of licensing.

ESH 1:

A small, earth covered (igloo) type ESH. Earth on the roof and against 3 walls.

Headwall and door may be resistant to low velocity projections. 16mm steel door, which faces south.

Category C electrical system.

Concrete floor.

Un-heated, but temperature recordings show a reliable temperature range between 5 and 17 ºC.

This ESH has a fully serviceable and working intruder alarm which links directly to the guardroom.

ESH 1 also has a fully functioning CCTV system with a monitor in the guard room.

20 Units of Space, plus a brick walled container traverse large enough for 1 UOS (total 21 UOS).

ESH 2:

Unheated brick building.

No temperature records.

715mm thick brick walls, 150mm reinforced concrete roof.

Barricaded door (concrete wall barricade). 50mm mild steel door, incorporated into the design of the building.

Door faces south.

Concrete floor.

Category C electrical system.

This ESH has a fully serviceable and working intruder alarm which links directly to the guardroom.

80 Units of Space.

ESH 3:

As for ESH 2.

ESH 4:

As for ESH 2.

However, door is not barricaded and faces east.

ESH 5:

Light structure, brick walls of 220mm brick. Protective roof of 150mm reinforced concrete.

Traversed on 3 sides (Type 3 ‘Chilver’ traverse).

Unheated.

16mm steel plate door, which faces east (un-traversed side)

Concrete floor.

No electrical supply to this ESH.

120 Units of Space.

ESH 6:

Basic ‘shed’ structure made of frangible panels.

Unheated.

16mm steel plate door, which faces west.

Traversed on all sides (Type 3 ‘Chilver’ traverse).

Concrete floor.

No electrical supply to this ESH.

100 Units of Space.

ESH 7:

Basic ‘shed’ structure made of frangible materials.

Unheated.

16mm steel plate door, which faces south-east.

No traversing.

Concrete floor.

No electrical supply to this ESH.

80 UOS.

Ammunition Process Building:

Medium walled building, 225mm thick brick walls.

Electrically heated.

155mm reinforced concrete roof.

Traversed on all sides (Type 1 ‘double slope’ traverse).

Currently undeterminable quality electrical system. An electrical engineer has been engaged to reinstall an electrical system that will be to Cat A and B standard.

Truck marshalling/loading/unloading/stabling area:

An area of hard standing, 30 x 30m. It is untraversed.

Depot office:

Standard brick office building with ‘shatter proof film’ and ‘bomb net curtains’ on windows.
