WELCOME: to Charlie David Stuart Nedley who is to be baptised into the life of our community this weekend.

SECOND COLLECTION: this weekend is for the annual White flower Appeal to support the work of the Society for the Protection of Unborn Children (SPUC). The Society’s work covers a wide spectrum of pro-life, pro-family issues. It seeks to protect unborn children from abortion and defends the disabled, elderly and incapacitated from euthanasia and assisted suicide. SPUC also provides trained speakers for schools.

FOOD BANK: letter of thanks on the notice board.

THURSDAY CLUB: the Thursday Club has provided a social afternoon for the elderly and those who otherwise may not get out of their homes. Clearly this is good apostolic work - looking out for those in need. Loneliness can be a real issue in our society today. For this activity to continue, we need helpers to ensure its future. Please, consider coming along to help. The club opens its doors on Thursdays, 2.00 - 3.45pm. It offers bingo, entertainment, afternoon tea etc. We now have an industrial dishwasher installed in the renovated kitchen so that should make life a lot easier. Joining a rota, to help on occasions would be of great help.

We have a meeting on Wednesday 13th January in the Presbytery at 8.00pm (after the 7.30pm Mass) to discuss the viability of letting the club continue. Please come along.

LUTON DEANERY MARRIAGE COURSE: will take place Saturday 20th February 2016 at St. Joseph’s Parish Centre. If you are planning to marry this year (in the parish or outside), please contact the Presbytery to obtain a booking form and return the completed form to St Joseph’s by Friday 5thFebruary.

CRIB OFFERINGS: support the work of NOAH among the homeless & destitute. The season of Christmas ends this weekend with the Feast of the Baptism of the Lord. Donations of clothing, bedding, bric-a-brac & small electrical items can be left in the blue bins before and after all masses next weekend.

NOAH: Emergency night shelter volunteers needed to help provide warm safe place at the shelter for homeless people to sleep when the temperatures fall to zero or below at night. This is the 9th year that NOAH has opened the shelter but does need the support of volunteers. If you feel you can help there will be a briefing at the Welfare Centre 141 Park Street. LU1 3HG on Wednesday 20th January 6.30pm. If you can attend the briefing please contact Jessica 01582 728416 or .

CHRISTMAS DECORATIONS: please help take the tree & crib down etc on Monday (11th) after 9.30am Mass. Many thanks.

CHURCH CLEANERS: we need more people to help clean the church on Wednesday mornings or a family or group to come in at some time convenient to them, as part of a rota – so it would only be every few weeks. Please contact the parish office to offer your assistance which will be much appreciated.
