Volunteer Commitment Form for Edmonton Oilers 50/50 – March 18th ,2014 @ 7:30

The NSMHA was selected as one of the beneficiaries of the Edmonton Oilers 50/50 draw this hockey season! The success of this fundraiser relies solely on volunteers and we are so excited that you are interested in volunteering for us! Please find below an overview of this initiative:

Volunteer Recruitment

Ø 57-60 volunteers are required…..nothing less, nothing more

o 40 volunteers will be “sellers”

§ Energetic and enthusiastic

§ Approachable appearance

§ Able to work in a busy environment

o 17-20 volunteers will be in the “count room”

§ Should be arithmetically-inclined (comfortable with math and counting)

Ø Must be 18 years of age or older

Ø Time commitment will be from 5:30pm sharp to 11pm/11:30pm (approximately)

o Remember there may be winter conditions, leave yourself plenty of time for travel

o Sellers are able to leave after the cut-off and machines and cash are brought up to the count room

o The volunteers in the count room will stay a short-while after the sellers leave to finalize the paperwork

Ø A penalty of $50 per person will be charged if the number of volunteers is less than 57

Parking and Entrance to Rexall

Ø Free parking is available in the Mount Lawn Lot (120 Ave & 75 Street)

o Please keep in mind that this area is known to be not an overly safe area

Ø All other Northlands parking lots charge $12 per vehicle

Ø Arrive at South Pass Gate no later than 5:30pm

o Latecomers will not be allowed in

FAQ’s (from Edmonton Oilers Community Foundation)

Ø Are volunteers allowed to take a meal break?

o They are encouraged to eat before their shift starts, as there is not a lot of time available

Ø Hockey and beer?

o Not until you are finished working!

Ø What do I wear?

o Keep your feet happy (especially for sellers)

o Warm clothes (i.e. long-sleeve, jeans, etc)

o Oilers-friendly (i.e. prefer no logos but if you do wear logos it can only be only Oilers or Oil Kings)

Ø Can I leave for a smoke-break?

o Unfortunately no, if you leave the building you are not allowed back in

Ø Can we bring our own snacks?

o Possibly, small snacks such as granola bars is ok

Ø Am I able to watch the hockey game?

o No you will be busy the entire game, and no tickets will be provided to the volunteers

Ø My family/friend has tickets to the game, can they come in the security entrance with me and then go to the game?

o No, only those on the approved guest list will be permitted through the security entrance

Ø Is there a place for me to put my belongings?

o Yes, but it is recommended that volunteers avoid bringing large bags/knapsacks

·  If you would like to take a bus, than please be aware that the bus must leave at approx. 4:00-4:30 in order to be at the arena 2 hours before game time which will be 5:30.(Tentative)

·  If you have people from outside the association who would like to volunteer, they are also allowed to sign up.

·  You are allowed to bring a small back pack with water or small snacks, but please be advised that there will be limited space to secure personal items.
