Email Marketing Manager

Reporting to the Online Marketing Manager,the E-mail Marketing Manager (EMM) is a FT exempt position that is responsible for building and executing Denver Rescue Mission’s E-mail Marketing strategy and for managing all aspects of our E-mail Marketing campaigns, including creating content and deploying over 100 emails per year, tracking performance and leveraging analytics to make informed strategic decisions for future e-Marketing efforts with the goal of meeting the annual email marketing revenue budget and improving revenue stream. The EMMis part of the Communications team and works closely with the Online Marketing Manager (OMM) and the Director of Communications (DOC) as an online fundraising partner on a variety of strategic web initiatives.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage all of Denver Rescue Mission’s E-mail marketing communications
  • Responsible for email marketing revenue and expense budget
  • Responsible for building and executingthe Mission’s E-mail marketing strategy
  • Create strategic fundraising content for over 100 on-brand emails per year in Mail Chimp using HTML and CSS, and deploy them through Blackbaud’s E-mail marketing tool Luminate
  • Create marketing content for holiday fundraising e-Appeals including: 3 Easter e-Appeals, 3 Thanksgiving e-Appeals, 3 Christmas e-Appeals, Summer of Hope e-Appeals, Cold Weather e-Appeals, and 3 Year End Giving e-Appeals
  • Work with assets provided by the Graphic Designer and DOC to create and send the monthly Changing Lives e-Newsletter
  • Work with the Relational Giving team, the PR and Events team, and the Communications team to create and send Matching Gift E-mails, Annual Report E-mails, Donor TouchPoint E-mails, Impact Report E-mails, Event Invitations, Corporate Partnership E-mails, and Introduction E-mails
  • Work with Legacy Giving Manager, Graphic Designer and DOC to create and deploy quarterly Legacy Giving E-mails
  • A/B test dollar handles, subject lines, and E-mail content, and provide analytics
  • Provide analytics on E-mails opened, bounced & unsubscribed, click-throughs and donations
  • Leverage Analytics and prioritize best practices to make informed strategic decisions for future e-Marketing efforts with the goal of improving revenue stream
  • Use analytics and optimize content to offer an integrated and strategic customer journey and purchase path from Marketing E-mail to donation page to confirmation page to Thank you response
  • Manage segmented e-mail lists for varied levels of giving among existing donors, new donors, potential donors, and for Legacy Giving, Relational Giving, Events, & Volunteers
  • Manage and analyze segmented donation pages tied to email lists with varied dollar asks to drive strategy and performance
  • Optimize E-mail unsubscribe page to communicate respect and value to the user and allow them to personalize and adjust preferences for which types of emails we’re currently sending and they’re receiving, as well as frequency and to provide feedback.
  • Work in partnership with the OMM to update Story pages, CEO Letter page, and other pages and URLS linked in emails.
  • Test and debug emails to ensure email client, browser and device compatibility prior to deployment
  • Build and manage E-Communications Calendar
  • Monitor and maintain our adherence to all legal requirements relating to email marketing
  • Provide expertise on the latest E-mail Marketing trends, assess new opportunities, generate new ideas, and drive strategy for online communication and fundraising
  • Work in partnership with Russ Reid Agency on strategy, reporting and results, and enhance assets they provide with improved in-house photos, copy and content.
  • Assist in ensuring accuracy of branding and content throughout all E-mail Marketing and Online activities, including error-free copy, imagery and links

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Work as a collaborative team member with the OMM, the DOC, the Graphic Designer, and the Writer/Photographer
  • Other tasks as assigned by the DOC

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Requires Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing or related field, or a minimum of 2 years experience in an equivalent field
  • Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, Mail Chimp and E-mail Marketing best practices
  • Excellent writing skills with high degree of accuracy
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to interact effectively with team members and communicate well with all levels of the organization
  • Able to set priorities and handle multiple projects while meeting established deadlines
