FROM THE TEACHER

CoGat testing is done and the students and I are really for some rest and relaxation this weekend. Having to sit silently thinking in a desk for 1 ½ hours is a very difficult thing to do and this group did an awesome job of completing the testing. Today we had popcorn and a movie to celebrate that the testing is done and that all of the students either turned in the fundraising materials or the money.

WISH LIST: I am in need of cups to use for various activities here in the classroom. Any kind, any size would be appreciated. I am also in need of a box of Gold Fish to use for those students who are without snack.

FALL FESTIVAL: Our Pitner Fall Festival will be held on Oct 12 this year. Plan to come out and injoy the games, rides and lots of other goodies.

LANGUAGE ARTS

Language arts instruction took a back seat to testing this week. We reviewed what we have learned in preparation to begin a new unit next week. We will start a unit on diagraphs next week. The diagraphs that we will be working on are ch, sh, th, ck, and wh. We are also working on our sight words. Children must know 75 sight words by the end of this nine week period so we will be reviewing and learning new words in the coming weeks.

MATH

We have been working on fact familes this week. We have been creating houses for our facts to help the students learn the connection. It has been a rough concept for them to learn so we will continue to work on it as time allows in the coming weeks. We will also start with place value next week. We will also continue to work on addition and subtraction facts to 10 in the coming weeks as well as work on strategies to help them.

Have a great weekend.
