GENERAL INFORMATION
WHAT: Pioneer District Fall Camporee and Webelos Woods.
An opportunity for scouts to expand their skills. In
addition great scouting fellowship at the Saturday
night campfire.
WHEN:Friday, Nov 9 through Sunday, Nov 11.
Registration starts at 5:00 PM on Friday. Events start at
9:00 am on Saturday. All patrols should leave by
11:00 PM Sunday.
WHERE:Alma McHenry Scout Camp – North of Giddings, see map
WHO:Webelos Scouts, Boy Scouts, Explorers, Venture Crews
JUDGES:Will need adults to help with activities. We will be assigning
adults to activities at the Friday night cracker barrel and before
the events start Saturday morning.
COST:Program cost for the Camporee will be $5.00 per scout and
$ 5.00 per adult. Food supplied by units.
Camporee cost cover, Port-O-Porties, supplies and Awards.
LEADERSHIP: Each Unit should be under the
supervision of two deep leadership, a Scoutmaster or other
qualified adult leader (minimum 21 years of age) who will remain
on the reservation during the entire camporee.
EQUIPMENT: Each unit will be responsible for their transportation,
camping equipment and food. There are no tables.
ELECTRICITYNone - bring lantern and flashlights.
CAMPSITE:To be assigned by camporee staff at registration. (see map)
VEHICLES:Vehicles parked in designated parking areas.
LATRINES:Latrines are available at key locations.
GENERAL INFORMATION
LOST&FOUND: All found items should be brought to the headquarters area.
GROUND FIRE:Ground fires will be allowed, but you cannot leave burned logs or ash. Do not did fire Pits. Do not leave any fires unattended.
Coleman stoves are recommended for cooking.
WATERThere is a drinking water faucet at the lodge building
FIRST AID:There will be a First Aid person at the camporee
headquarters, but it is recommended that each unit bring
their own First Aid Kit.
INSURANCE:There is no general camper accident and sickness insurance
coverage for the camporee. Each unit should plan to use their units insurance policy. Note: Forms for the BSA recommended
unit accident insurance can be obtained at the Council Service Center. For information call 512-926-6363.
UNIFORMS:During Saturday Evening and Sunday Morning Flag Ceremony, dinner and Church Service, Scouts are expected to dress in
Class A uniforms. During all other activities, it is preferred that scouts wear either Class A, or Troop Class B uniforms (T-shirts).
Patrols are encouraged to have their own team T-shirts for the
survival competition.
This is a scouting event, let's dress like scouts.
FLAGS:Troops are recommended to have an American and Troop flag at their camp sight. Each patrol should have a flag.
DINNER:All meals should be planned and prepared by each Patrol.
There will be a Saturday night dinner competition, for Patrols wishing to participate. For each patrol that enters the competition
that troop must sponsor an adult to be a judge.
EVENTS:Boys will attend activities according to the timed schedules.
-Each Troop will be required to build a campsite entrance
-Each Patrol will be required to have a patrol Flag
-Each Patrol will need a Patrol Yell or song
SUGGESTED PREPARATIONS
1.Check canvas tarps and tents before arriving.
2.Check cooking gear. Help make your meals memorable.
3.Develop menus and ensure all food is brought, including spices.
4.Water is available in area.
5.Cooking fires. Bring ample amounts of charcoal or stove fuel.
6.Bring plastic ground cloth for tent and bedroll.
7.Bring trash containers for each patrol.
8.Do not leave fires unattended.
9.Gasoline or other fuel should not be handled by the boys.
10Bring scout handbook.
11Bring Fire Ant poison
12Bring chair.
13Flash lights, compass, rain gear, hat, towel, soap.
14Plate, cup, spoon, pots, paper towel.
15Bring a skit or song for campfire.
WEBELOS ACTIVITIES
DATE:SATURDAY, November 10
PLACE:Alma McHenry Scout Camp, Giddings
TIME:Webelos can either come out Friday Night or Saturday
morning. Activities start at 1:00 on Saturday.
Activities: Webelos can participate in all of the Scout activities.
Cost:Camporee fees $5.00 per boy and $5.00 per adult.
Meals:
1)Each patrol plans their own meals. If you come out on Saturday, have each boy bring
a bagged meal for lunch. Plan your dinner and breakfast.
2)Keep meal cost down to under $ 3.00 per person per meal. Most campout, scouts bring
to much food, and the extra goes to waste.
Dinner - Webelos can participate in dinner competition. Rules attached.
Meal Examples:
1)Beef stew - (canned beef stew, rice or noodles, bread and desert)
2)Soup - (instant noodles or Campbell's soup, with crackers).
3)Hamburgers - (potato chips)
Breakfast
1)Dry Cereal, granola bars, dried fruit.
2)Peanut butter with crackers.
3)Oatmeal, orange juice.
4)Eggs, sausage, bread and orange juice.
5)Breakfast Tortillas - ( eggs, sausage, potato and flour tortillas)
Camping supplies:
1)Each patrol is responsible for their own tents. Boys should team up. No adults sleeping
in tents with the Webelos.
2)For the adults, a cot or thick foam pad will make your night more enjoyable.
2)No Webelos are to use a pocket knife without completion of a whittling chip course
and have his whittling chip card in his possession.
