We would like to take this opportunity to invite you to join the Blue Springs South cross country program. Whether you consider yourself a runner or not, we believe cross country is a sport that offers something for everyone regardless of your history or ability. We welcome anyone and everyone. Give it a chance, we do not think you will be disappointed.

  • There are no cuts. Anyone can do it and we encourage all to try.

  • It is not hard. You do not have to be a “runner” to do well and enjoy the sport.
  • You can be a part of one of the top teams in the Kansas City area and the state of Missouri.
  • Running give you a sense of accomplishment each day.

Beginning Monday, May 30th, we will offer summer workouts to all those who are able to attend. These workouts are voluntary and offer runners a chance to get to know the coaches and other runners and get in shape for the coming season. Regardless of whether you run with us this summer, you are welcome to begin practicing when the fall sports season officially begins in August. Below are some dates to remember.

  • May 18th – summer kickoff yogurt social at Yogurtini (6:30). We will meet to discuss our program, have some yogurt, and answer your questions (see flyer for details).
  • May 30th – July 22nd – voluntary summer workouts (see details on back of this sheet for times/locations).
  • June 6th – June 9th – Jaguar Running Camp, 7:00 – 8:00 (9-12) or 8:00 – 10:00 (6 – 8) (see flyer for registration and details)
  • July 31st – Blue Springs South Activities Parents Meeting (7:00 pm); mandatory for any athlete wishing to participate in a fall sport.
  • August 1st– first day of practice; 7:00 am at Blue Spring South High School

During the school year we will practice after school each day starting around 2:30 pm and lasting until around 4:30 pm. Most meets are held on Saturday mornings beginning in September and lasting until the end of October

Summer Workout Information

All Incoming 9th – 12th graders are encouraged to attend

We will meet at the below locations on the designated days beginning on May 30th. Workouts generally last between 45 – 60 minutes depending on the length and goal of the day’s run.

If you cannot attend all, or any of the workouts you can still be on the team in the fall! These are optional workouts for those who want to/can participate. Obviously, the more running you can do, the more prepared you will be to have a healthy and successful season.

  • Mondays (7am) – Blue Springs South High School. We will meet in the east parking lot between the football stadium and the school.
  • Tuesdays (7am) – Little Blue Trace – trailhead can be found at I-70 and Little Blue Parkway. Parking lot is located behind Cold Stone Cremery and Beauty Brands.
  • Wednesdays (7am) – Larry Mattenon Memorial Nature Trail. Located off of Colbern Road bordering Lake Jacomo; turn on Cyclone School Road and follow road until you see the small trailhead parking lot.
  • Thursdays (7am) – Lake Vista Trail – trailhead can be found on Woods Chapel Road between Liggett Road and 40 Highway. We will meet in the small parking lot about a quarter mile south of 40 Highway.
  • Fridays (7am) – Little Blue Trace – same trailhead as Tuesday.
