“see blue.” Day at Keeneland Calls Fans to the Post

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Oct. 15, 2008) –The University of Kentucky and Keeneland have teamed up to bring big blue fans the best way to kick off Homecoming Weekend! Join UK students, faculty, staff, alumni and the rest of big blue nation for “see blue.” Day at Keeneland Friday, Oct. 17.

The festivities kick off 11 a.m. with free food, soft drinks and a highlight film of the best of UK Football action from the 2008 season at the Keeneland Entertainment Center. Fans can register for great door prizes including UK/Keeneland gift baskets filled with logo merchandise and autographed items, betting vouchers and more and will receive a wristband for free general admission to the day’s races with access to reserved seating.

At11:30 a.m., the excitement goes up a notch with a big blue pep rally as the Cats gear up for a battle with the Arkansas Razorbacks. UK President Lee Todd, Wildcat, the cheerleaders, the pep band and fans will be on hand along with Tim Couch, Craig Yeast and other former UK greats from the 1998 Wildcat football team as they return home. They will also sign a limited edition UK and Keeneland hat produced especially for “see blue.” Day at Keeneland from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the paddock. The hat will be available at the event for $15, with proceeds going to DanceBlue, UK’s largest student-run philanthropy that benefits the pediatric oncology clinic at Kentucky Children’s Hospital.

The fun will continue throughout the day with live racing at Keeneland beginning at1:10p.m. General admission is $3. All UK students, faculty, staff and alumni will be admitted free with their student, faculty or staff ID card or alumni association membership card.

Faculty and staff who are unable to attend “see blue.” Day at Keeneland because of work commitments will receive free admission on Sunday, Oct. 19, with their valid ID card.
