Troop 1288 Committee Minutes 04-09-13
Members Present:Holly Meredith, Bonnie VanVakenburgh, Shelli Bell, GwendolynFontenette, Debra Lemons, Matt Estes, Tammie Silva, Sophia Cui-Clister, Kathy Landicker, Melvin Menezes, Ken Gilliam, Andrew Constantinou, Tysen Leong, Louis Meneghetti, Devin Koehler, Bernard Peck, Ron Taylor.
Minutes of the February Meeting: Mr. Hoppe was not available to review previous minutes. The minutes will be posted on the website.
Financial Report: Shelli Bell presented the March financials with explanations. The financials are available online for review. Mr. Brumme receives a donation from Mustang Engineering for 300.00 to make trailer repairs. Northern Tier estimates are still being figured. We have 20 spots reserved for summer camp. We need 8 more scouts to sign up or we will release the spots. The cost is estimated to be 360.00.
The Matthew J. Schmitt fund was explained to the new committee members.
A motion to accept the financials was made by Louis Meneghetti, seconded by Holly Meredith. The motion to accept financials passes.
Class B shirts, Patches, Name Tags:Mr. Peck suggested the new scouts have 3 shirts for summer camp. If you would like a name tag for your scout please email Sue Hoppe.
Flag Sales Update:Shelli Bell reported that we are starting to renew our flag subscriptions. 6 days a year are designated as flag days. The boys keep 80% of the cost to their scout account. A brief explanation of the program was provided. We follow the flag code strictly and they can not be put up the night before or left out over night. Flyers were distributed to interest families.
Next Committee Meeting:05-21-13
Next Court of Honor: 04-30-13. The close out of accounts for advancements will be04-16-13. Ron Taylor explained what a Court of Honor looks like to new families. This will be a potluck dessert. Debra Lemons will put together an email to distribute.
Scout Master Report – Bernard
- Review of Activities
- March 1-3 Camporee El Rancho Cima – 26 scouts and 8 adults. They won best campsite award and the Hawk patrol also won several awards.
- March 9 FamilyDayBushPark–22 scouts attended and 20 adults. 12 Webelo’s visited this event. Louis reported that the adults lost the kick ball tournament.
- March 23 Texas Skies District Merit Badge Fair – we had 20 boys participate.

Old Business
- Eagles Nest–We are putting the Eagles Scouts names on our trailer. We are up to 2009 and we are planning to list scouts through 2012.
- Venture Scout Unit–Epiphany is putting together a Venture crew. They are still working out the details. They will meet on Wednesday nights here at Epiphany. This program is for 14 years and above.
New Business
- Adult Volunteers ~ Needed! There are several positions and opportunities where we need help.
- Bernard will conduct swim test at his house ~ 100 yards. Dates will be announced.
- PLC did planning and dates will be posted on the website. We will start booking fewer campsites and we will only be able to take the first boys who sign up.
Holly Meredith motioned to end the meeting and Louis Meneghetti seconded the motion. Meeting adjourned at 8:20.
