General Information

Jazz Ensemble: Jazz Ensemble is open to all high school students who qualify by audition. Auditions will be held the second week of school. Rehearsals are during block 1B (7:45-9:15every other day). The Jazz Ensemble will perform three formal concerts and participate in a minimum of two festivals. The band will also travel to local area schools to perform.

Sectionals: Every student in Jazz Ensemble will be required to participate in, at minimum, one sectional per month. The times of these sectionals will be determined by the members of the section and approved by the band director.

Equipment Needs: Each student must bring to class everyday: a sharpened pencil with eraser, their instrument in good working condition (which includes reeds, mouthpieces, and all other necessities), assigned music and a good attitude.

Challenges: Challenges will occur before or after school. No more than one challenge per week. No challenges will be held two weeks prior to a concert or performance.

Concert Attendance: Attendance is required at every concert and festival. An unexcused absence will result in a significant lowering of your grade. If you have an excused absence, it can be made up through a student-initiated appointment with the director. The content of the make-up will be determined at the time of the appointment.

General Information (cont.)

Daily Attendance: Attendance is a crucial part of a successful performing group. An unexcused absence will result in the loss of all the rehearsal points for that day. If you have an excused absence, it can be made up through a student-initiated appointment with the director. The content of the make-up will be determined at the time of the appointment
