Just the ticket: Only a few days to go until FASZINATION MODELLBAHN 2017 in Sinsheim!

From 10th - 12th March2017 every corner of MesseSinsheim will be alive with the sights and sounds of railways: The International Fair for Model Railways, Specials & Accessories welcomes all model railway fans to the start of the new season. An array of painstakingly detailed model railway layouts, top exhibitors, great hands-on activities, active exchange of knowledge and iconic TV personalities - all add up to a three-day railway spectacle for the whole family at FASZINATION MODELLBAHN 2017.

When the model railway community flocks to Sinsheim, renowned exhibitors present their latest products, numerous clubs and societies display theirmodel railway layoutsand model railway specialistscontribute their expertise,it can only mean that FASZINATION MODELLBAHN has begun.Passionate railway buffs anddedicated modelling experts present metre-long model railway layouts which have been created and constructed in hours of dedicated work. This year popular TV personality Hagen von Ortloffwill be among the exhibitors, presenting rare miniature railways of bygone days on his layout. And in the midst of this world of miniatures, telling stories of then and now, manufacturers present railways in all gauges, drive technology, track materials, model railway software, signals, miniature trees and bushes, landscaping materials, figures, lighting technology and much, much more, giving visitors infinite inspirationfor their own projects. How to breathe life into the miniature creations is purveyed by experts in the Model Railway Forumwith practical tips and advice. For the next generation of railway modellers the event offers countless possibilities to get to know and love the world of model railways. The first day of the fair is devoted to a special programme for schools and kindergartens. Die-hard railway fans can even enhance the total railway experience by travelling to the show on a nostalgic steam express – all tracks lead to Sinsheim!

The world en miniature: Model replica of Birnbaum East station

Two pensioners set off for the platform, a young couple are saying their farewells in a warm embrace, businessmen in animated conversation await their train, a family looks forward to their outing, while nearby a young woman hangs up the washing. In scenes of everyday life, depicted in scale 1:87, model figures by Viessmannbring life to the station in the Polish town of Międzychód. Imaginatively created with great attention to detail by PoznanskiKlubModelarzyKolejowych, this gauge H0 diorama is one of the most impressive miniature layouts at FASZINATION MODELLBAHN 2017. It combines top quality products by renowned international model railway manufacturers: Tracks by Roco, switch lanterns by Weinert, landscaping materials by Busch, Hekiand Nochas well as trees and shrubs by Polish manufacturers MBR-Modell and Kobza. This amazing model is just one of innumerable true-to-detail and professionally built exhibits awaiting a fascinated audience at the popular model railway exhibition!

In no hurry: "The Snail"crawls through the Palatinate

When creativity combines new technology with old tradition, beautifully crafted models can emergewhich will transport amazed model railway fans back to the olden days. This is certainly true of GertZiller's miniature railway which is entered in the competition for private modellers along with seven other equally impressive layouts. Modelled on the 'PfälzerOberlandbahn' the railway in gauge H0m leads fromNussdorftoBöchingentravelling along three segments entitled "Three stones", "Palatinate vineyards" and "Böchingen".Countless hours of research in archives, talking to contemporary witnesses, numerous old photos and the production of 3D-printed parts enabled the construction of the old beige tram nicknamed 'The Snail', includingfive motor coaches and ten carriages all from different eras. In combined digital-analogue operation this exhibit, alongside its competitors, certainly constitutes a highlight at this year's FASZINATION MODELLBAHN.

Hands-on fun for all agesthroughout the exhibition hall

At theMEC Waiblingenstand, club members offer competent information on digital control and drive technologyand also useful tips on the construction of various model elements. In their Crafts Garden, Viessmann-kibriand Vollmer also offer expert advice on kit construction, the Vollmer Stone Art range and appropriate electronics for the beloved railway at home. Meanwhile kids are introduced to railway modelling by trying it out for themselves in twelve playful and instructive steps at Junior College Europa by BDEF, and can even win attractive prizes with their self-made dioramas. Model railway manufacturers märklinand PIKO offer youngsters an open play environment for their first attempts at railway design. At the ModellautoWanner stand, children from 4 to 10 years of age have the opportunity to build model houses free of charge, under the guidance of experienced railway modellers. As always the first day of the fair is dedicated to schools and kindergartens,with age-appropriate activities for playful model construction to ensure that children find simple access to the world of modelling.There are definitely enough hands-on activities at the three-day show to keep everyone happy!

Practical expert tips at the Model Railway Forum and in workshops

If a railway modeller comes to the end of the line, the way to get back on track could well be found among the solutions offered at the Model Railway Forum!Here you will find out for example how to install interchangeable circuit boards and lighting for model railways, how servo drives are controlledvia TCCS and means of communication in digital operation. In their lectures and demonstrations highly competent industry experts pass on their knowledge to a technically interested audience and so contribute to keeping the popular hobby of railway modelling at a high level of state-of-the-art technology.For the whole duration of the fair there will also be a range of digital workshops byRailCommunityon current topics of interest such as the conception of a digital layout or sound systems for rolling stock. And at the exhibition stands there is always the opportunity to talk shop with the experts and ask specific questions on topics of personal interest.

Live 'Railway Romance' with Hagen von Ortloff

On the programme's 25th anniversary Hagen von Ortlofftook his leave as moderator of "Eisenbahn-Romantik", after inspiring viewers with sensational journeys around the globe in over 800 episodes. But his love of railways and model railways will never end and so for the first time he and his friend Lutz Mäderare bringing a special attraction toFASZINATION MODELLBAHN 2017. Their exhibits are selected modelgems from the late 1940sand early 1950s. The quaint little railways by Löhmannand Staigerare exquisite rarities and have attained cult status among experts. With their display Hagen von Ortloffand Lutz Mäder give fascinating insight into the history of model railways and will be an exceptional highlight for visitors to the fair.
