Introduction
Congratulations! You have just become a coordinator for the Aberdeen Hockey Association. The Association welcomes you and wishes to thank you for the duties that you are about to take on.
As volunteer coordinators we want to help support and accomplish the mission, vision, goals and workload of the Aberdeen Hockey Association.
This manual will provide you with direction and should answer several questions you may already have. Of course the Master Coordinator who recruited you will always be available to assist.
Your position will require many responsibilities on your part and we hope you will find it rewarding; it may seem overwhelming at first but it will be worth it.
This manual has been developed to be your “bible” and provide you with a resource to assist in your duties. You will work closely with your team’s coaches. They will need your expertise with tournaments, scheduling, meetings, communication with team members and parents, travel, providing necessary documentation of your team at games etc. Your assistance as coordinator will free up your coach’s time which is required to develop the team.
As a coordinator you will report to and work closely with your Master Coordinator, who is a member of the Hockey Development Committee (HDC). All of your duties and responsibilities fall under the supervision of the HDC. The purpose and objective of the HDC is:
The AHA Hockey Development Committee is responsible for all on-ice player development as well as coaching and coordinator development. In all aspects, this separate committee will report to the AHA Board of Directors for approval.
The objective of the HDC will be to build an infrastructure that will consistently develop teams that will produce to the best of their abilities and continue to attract the best athletes from the area to participate. HDC will create a competitive environment that encourages development and education of AHA coaches and players.
Welcome aboard!
