School Advisory Council Meeting Minutes

Items:

Welcome: Annjanette Kint called to order the SAC meeting at 6:00pm.

Minutes: All in attendance read from meeting minutes from the March meeting. Minutes were approved by J. Caizza, and seconded by Clarke.

Parent Involvement Plan: The PIP for the 2016/2017 was handed out to all in attendance. Those in attendance were asked to take home plan and review it. They were asked to make any changes they felt was needed within the paper. They are to be returned by May 1st signed and dated. This was done so we have parent, student, and community feedback.

Parent/Student/Teacher Compact: We reviewed the agreements on the compact. Everyone in attendance was asked to make any changes they would like to be considered to the compact. They were signed, dated, and then collected for feedback from parents, teachers, students, and community members.

Safety Patrol Update: There will be 11 students, and 6 adults going in the trip to Washington DC. The Safety Patrol is still looking for sponsors to help raise money for the trip. The trip will be June 12-16.

Principal’s Report: Nothing to report.

Date and other items:

  • YTS is in much need for substitutes. Please spread the word. We are looking for bright caring persons to help in the education of our students.
  • The school is looking into having all grade levels able to go on a field trip each year
  • April 21st The middle school students will be going to the Roller Barn for a PBS celebration
  • April 21st the 4th grade students will be taking a field trip to St. Augustine
  • April 28th 8th grade students will be visiting DHS
  • Teacher appreciation week is the first week of May.
  • May5th PBS celebration for K-2 to go to the Park for the afternoon
  • May 5th 8th grade students go to visit Cedar Key and WHS
  • May 10th the library closes for the year
  • Volunteer dessert social in May 17th at 2pm
  • May 17th is an early release day
  • Awards ceremonies will be May 22th for 1-4, May 25th for 5-8.
  • Pre K graduation is May 24th
  • Kindergarten graduation is May 25th
