Job Description for Marketing Co-ordinator

Job Purpose:To assist with the development and implementation of all public relations and marketing activities related to the College

Job Responsibilities:

  1. To work with the Associate Marketing Director to disseminate College success stories. To research, write and share these stories across all relevant channels including (website, social media, newsletter and local press), for the benefit of all relevant stakeholders including: students, parents, staff, members of the Corporation, and prospective students and their families.
  2. To be responsible for managing the Student Photographers(including briefing them and saving photos to the SSA).
  3. To scan relevant papers, social media channels and websites for stories of relevance to the College and share these stories with the relevant members of staff.
  4. To assist the Associate Marketing Director in the planning and creation of Marketing communications (see below) and under their direction, take responsibility for specific materials and projects.
  5. To take the lead in researching and creating student profiles that can be used in a variety of Marketing comms (including prospectus, website, materials for applicants).
  6. To take the lead role in overseeing the College’s Alumni: growing the Future First website, working with former students to support careers related events and initiatives, producing Alumni profiles.
  7. To take responsibility for the processing and monitoring of all Marketing expenditure. To assist with the forecasting and planning of Marketing spending. To oversee the filing of Marketing invoices.
  8. To be responsible for maintaining the Marketing photographic library and ensuring staff save and label photos (of Marketing use) in the ‘library.’
  9. To help ensure the College brand guidelines are adopted by all College departments.

Marketing Communications

  1. To take the lead role in supporting Admissions with the production of materials for College Open Events, Year 10 days and other promotional events e.g.banners, handouts, signs and posters.
  2. To assist with the research, creation and supply of advertisements.
  3. To assist or take the lead with the planning and creation of other marketing communications including the prospectus, printed newsletters, activities programme, course leaflets, performing arts materials, videos, ad hoc flyers and brochures, letters and emails.
  4. To takean active role in proof reading all marketing communications.
  5. To keep marketing display areas in College and at partner schools up to date.
  6. To oversee the production of new display materials.
  7. To assist with the writing, editing, proofing and uploading of content (inc. news items and other updates) for the College website.
  8. To help monitor and update the official College Facebook page and Twitter.

Events and PR

  1. To work alongside the Associate Marketing Director in the creation, planning and delivery of marketing-related events, for example events for applicants held at College and promotional events outside College (including Partner School and Careers events)
  2. To take a lead role in the production of news stories by following-up leads, arranging photo opportunities, interviewing students and editing stories ready for publishing on the College website, social media or newsletter.
  3. To keep the local press informed of relevant stories and assist with setting up interviews.
  4. To attend partner school assemblies and recruitment events as required.

Person Specification for a Marketing Co-ordinator

  1. A general awareness of the strategic direction of the College and an understanding of the environment in which it operates.
  1. Ideally some previous experience of working in a Marketing role.
  1. Excellent organisational skills, together with a willingness to be flexible and adaptable, according to the priorities of the College at any time.
  1. An ability to work constructively in professional partnership with other staff, and to establish good rapport with a range of client groups.
  2. Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to write effective, engaging copy.
  1. Excellent proof reading skills.
  1. Highly developed secretarial and administrative skills, including excellent keyboard/typing skills, and a good knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Powerpoint and Excel).
  1. Reasonable technical skills e.g. saving photos to the College network,sending photos via WeTransfer, uploading content to the website.
  1. An ability to act independently and use initiative when required.

  1. Confidence in tackling unfamiliar situations and enthusiasm for learning new skill demands where appropriate.
