2017 Early Career Research Award
Purpose

The Westmead Institute for Medical Research Early Career Research Award was established to support a novel and interesting small research plan by a young Westmead Institute scientist.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible to apply for the Early Career Research Award:

(1)applicants must be a Westmead Institute researcher who has been undertaking research at a centre of the WIMR since at least 1 January 2016;

(2)applicants must have attained a PhD;

(3)the PhD award must be dated no earlier than 2012;

(4)applicants must have had a poster or abstract accepted at a conference held within the period 1 January 2016 and30 December 2016.

Additional Information

Funding for this award is provided by the Winmalee Tavern Fishing Club (WTFC) which will judge all applications received.

One award of $2,000 will be made availableto assist the research efforts of the winner. The winner can access funds by contacting WIMR Finance to arrange payment for research related purchases.

The successful applicant may be asked to participate in WIMR promotional activities and liaise with the WTFC.

Supporting Documentation Required

(1)Completed WMI Early Career Research Award Application Form;

(2)A description of the research plan (no more than one page) relating to the poster or abstract;

(3)A copy of the applicant’s PhD award;

(4)A copy of the poster or abstract that was accepted at a conference held between 1 January 2016 and

30 December 2016;

(5)A copy of advice from the conference organisers that the poster or abstract was accepted.
