Role Summary: / To lead the Employment Research Institute and by doing this increase the University’s reputation and standing among external policy making, practitioner and academic communities.
To secure externally funded research projects for the Employment Research Institute in the area of employment: including employability, entrepreneurship, economic development, the changing nature of work and adaptability in businesses and their employees, and equal opportunities.
To successfully conduct, manage and complete high quality research and consultancy projects on time and to the satisfaction of a range of clients.
To manage and provide leadership to staff within the Employment Research Institute, to support their development and their contribution to Institute and Faculty objectives.
To produce academic research output that contributes to the Business School’s and University’s standing, especially in the REF.
To provide expertise in teaching where required, particularly doctoral supervision
Main Duties and Responsibilities
 / To secure externally funded research projects within the area of employment studies
 / To ensure all administrative tasks related to the ERI are carried out in line with University procedures
 / To manage a portfolio of research projects and ensure that they are completed on time and to the satisfaction of clients or funders
 / To manage and develop the team of research staff within the ERI
 / To manage the budget within the ERI
 / To participate in University and Faculty working groups or committees as appropriate
 / To contribute to doctoral level training and supervision
 / To build research links within the Business School, across the University and externally
 / To contribute to the building of the standing of the ERI, the Business School and the University internally and externally at local, national and international levels
