South Carolina Highway Patrol Enforcement Highlights/Media Availabilities:

Troop One (Clarendon, Kershaw, Lee, Lexington, Richland and Sumter counties):

I-20, U.S. 378 (aerial and ground enforcement); Roadways of emphasis include: Clemson Road, I-26, I-77, SC 48, Sec Road 48 and Lake Murray in Lexington, Lake Wateree in Kershaw County, Forest Acres, Chapin.

Troop Two (Abbeville, Edgefield, Greenwood, Laurens, McCormick, Newberry and Saluda counties):

Conducting LIDAR enforcement in LaurensCounty: I-385 and I-26; will be teaming up with local law enforcement in Newberry, Prosperity, Whitmire and Laurens for multi-agency public safety checkpoints. Special DUI patrols and use of Batmobile on June 29/30 in Newberry/Laurens. DUI patrols around LakeGreenwood and LakeMurray. Public safety checkpoints and DUI saturations.

Troop Three (Anderson, Greenville, Oconee, Pickens and Spartanburg):

Heavy focus on lake/mountain roadways/waterways with DNR. Special enforcement in Anderson, Oconee and Pickens. Will be at Portman Marina off Highway 24 at Lake Hartwell on July 2 at 10:00 for media availability; Enforcement throughout the week will focus on roadways to and from Lakes Hartwell, Jocassee, and Keowee; including I-85, US123, SC 11, SC 24, SC 130, as well as all secondary and county roads leading to/from lake access areas.

Troop Four (Cherokee, Chester, Chesterfield, Fairfield, Lancaster, Union and York counties):

  • Heavy focus on I-85 and I-77, primary highways and US roadways including US 29, SC 18, US 176, SC 49, SC 215, US 21, SC 72, US 21, US 321, US 52, US 601, SC 9, SC 5. Working with SCDNR to have check points around designated boat landings to enforce DUI, littering, and other violations. Will be teaming up with local law enforcement for multi-jurisdictional checkpoints, enforcement sessions.

Troop Five (Darlington, Dillon, Florence, Georgetown, Horry, Marion, Marlboro and Williamsburg counties):

  • Roadways leading into/surrounding the beach areas: US 501, U.S. 17, U.S. 76; teaming up with local law enforcement Troop 5 will also be giving special attention to I-20 and I-95 in expectation of heavy traffic flow on both roadways during the holiday weekend, as well as other routes that may lead to beach such as SC9 which runs through Marlboro and US 378 through both Florence and Marion before it reaches Horry. This will also include SC 521 through Williamsburg and Georgetown.

Troop Six (Beaufort, Berkeley, Charleston, Colleton, Dorchester and Jasper counties):

Special focus on I-26, I-526, I-95, US 17, US 278, SC 170, US 21, SC 174; patrolling the islands; Trooper Every 10 on June 29 on I-26. Will announce a multi-jurisdictional task force including Mt. Pleasant PD, Charleston PD, Charleston County Sheriff’s Office, North Charleston PD, and the SCHP to begin on June 29. Media Briefing regarding this will take place at Troop 6 HQ on June 28 at 10 a.m.

Troop Seven (Aiken, Allendale, Bamberg, Barnwell, Calhoun, Hampton and Orangeburg counties):

US 278, US 78, US 601, US 321, SC 70, SC 3 and surrounding secondary roadways. Post B Orangeburg/Calhoun will be conducting safety checkpoints around the SanteeLakes area in both counties. Troopers will be conducting radar saturations on both I-26 and I-95 as well as US 178, US 301, SC 267 and SC 4. Aerial Enforcement will be conducted in Aiken on I-20 both weekends of the enforcement period

Lake Wylie, July 2, 10:30 a.m., Boat Landing at Buster Boyd Bridge (SC side directly behind T-Bonz Restaurant): SCDNR, Highway Patrol, York County Sheriff’s Office. Media briefing regarding joint lake/highway safety during July 4.
