Virtual Cricket Festival

Organisation:

  • Each team move from activity to activity together.
  • The score is taken for each individual who hasa go during the 2 minute duration of the activity.
  • The timing will be controlled centrally by a hand bell.
  • Each team will have one score sheet to take from activity to activity with them.
  • School to divide children into stated number of teams.

Station A: Batting

Equipment:

  • 1 Kwik Cricket bat
  • 1 batting tee / cone
  • 7 cones (different colours)
  • 1tennis ball

Set up:

  • Place the batting tee and put a waiting cone down (pupils not batting should wait behind the waiting cone until it is their turn). Place a marker cone out level with the batting tee/cone so that if the tee is moved whilst batting there is a marker to show where it needs to be replaced.
  • Place 5 cones on the ground, (as indicated below) measuring out from the batting tee.

Activity:

  • Strike the ball off the batting tee/cone to land in the scoring zone.
  • Where the ball finishes (not where the ball lands) = number of points.
  • Each pupil will have 1 attempt before rotating with the next person.
  • Pupils to have as many turns as possible in the two minute allotted time.
  • Add up scores pupils manage to score in 2 minutes for a final score.

Station B: Fielding

Equipment:

  • 1 Set of Kwik Cricket stumps
  • 4 cones (different colours)
  • 1 ball

Set up:

  • Place 4 cones and the stumps on the ground (as indicated below).

Activity:

  • One pupil stands by each cone (if you have more than 4 pupils at a station the other pupils line up by the first cone and rotate into the activity).
  • The ball starts at cone 1.
  • Pupils roll the ball along the floor to the next person who is opposite them.
  • A point is awarded for every complete chain from one end to the other.
  • When the ball reaches the 4th cone, the pupil with the ball will roll the ball at the stumps. If the pupil hits the stumps they earn a bonus point. That same pupil collects the ball and runs back to the first cone / back of queue (depending on pupil numbers) to start the chain again, everyone else moves up one cone.

Station C: Running

Equipment:

  • 1 Kwik Cricket bat
  • 2 cones (different colours)

Set up:

  • Place 2 cones on the ground 5m apart (as indicated below).

Activity:

  • Pupils stand behind cone 1, the first pupil holds the bat.
  • The first pupil runs, with the bat, from cone 1 to cone 2.
  • They touch the bat onto cone 2 and then they run back to the next pupil on cone 1.
  • Pupil 1 passes the bat to pupil 2.
  • Pupil 2 repeats etc.
  • A point is awarded every time a pupil runs back and passes the bat over.
  • Pupils to have as many go’s as possible in the two minute allotted time.
  • Add up scores pupils manage to score in 2 minutes for a final score.

Station D: Throwing

Equipment:

  • 3 tennis balls
  • 11 cones (different colours)

Set up:

  • Mark out a throwing line using cones, and a waiting cone (pupils not throwing should wait behind this cone until it is their turn).
  • Place 7 cones on the ground (as indicated below).

Activity:

  • From stationary, throw the ball as far as possible (can be over or under arm).
  • Where the ball lands (not where the ball finishes) = number of points.
  • Each pupil will have 1 attempt before rotating with the next person.
  • Pupils to have as many go’s as possible in the two minute allotted time.
  • Add the number of points from their 3 best attempts together to give the participant total.
  • Add up participants totals for a final class score.

Station E: Bowling

Equipment:

  • 1 tennis ball
  • Kwik Cricket stumps
  • 6 cones (different colours)

Set up:

  • Mark out a throwing line using cones, and a waiting cone (pupils not throwing should wait behind this cone until it is their turn).
  • Place the stumps and cones out (as indicated below).

Activity:

  • From stationary, bowl the ball under arm at the stumps.
  • If the pupil hits the stumps they score 5 points. If the ball misses the stumps but goes between the cones the pupil scores 1 point.
  • Teacher/Leader to collect the thrown ball
  • Each pupil will have 1 attempt before rotating with the next person.
  • Pupils to have as many go’s as possible in the two minute allotted time.
  • Add up scores pupils manage to score in 2 minutes for a final score.

Station F: Catching

Equipment:

  • 1 ball
  • Cones or spots x number of pupils (different colours)

Set up:

  • Place the cones/spots (enough for every pupil in the group) out in a circle1m apart (as indicated below).

Activity:

  • Each pupil stands behind a cone/on a spot.
  • Pupil 1 starts with the ball on cone 1.
  • The ball gets passed to cone 2, and then cone 3 etc. Pupils stay on their cone.
  • A point is counted every time a pupil makes a catch. If they drop the ball a point is not awarded and they pick the ball up and continue.
  • Add up scores pupils manage to score in 2 minutes for a final score.
