Job summary
To work as part of the control centre team to provide an effective communication link with the public, other services/agencies and SJA staff. To handle incoming requests and quotes for emergency, routine and specialist ambulance transport and then allocating and dispatching ambulance vehicles where applicable. The Operational Delivery Assistant will also participate in the resourcing of staff, vehicles and logistics where needed.

Main duties and responsibilities
- To provide effective telephone answering to the general public, health care professionals, emergency services, SJA staff and other agencies as required.
- To provide where needed quotations to the customers / potential customers of SJA.
- Ensuring that all quotations are clearly logged on the system, allocated to the appropriate resource and where needed additional crew, vehicles or logistics support is sought.
- In liaison with the Ambulance Team Leaders and under instruction from the Operational Delivery Coordinator, play an active role in the resourcing of service activity.
- To receive and record all elements of required patient related information on computer terminals.
- To utilise the district ambulance planning process and input all confirmed data onto the Duty Information Planning System (DIPS).
- To dispatch ambulances to incidents as required.
- To act as a point of contact for SJA operational staff, providing help, guidance and support where required.
- When instructed by the Operational Delivery Coordinator, provide reports from DIPS and tracking systems as required.
- Checking timesheets, filing and administration duties as required.
- To perform any other duties commensurate with these responsibilities, the band of the post and skill and qualifications of the post-holder.
