What form of technology is most important to your day to day life? What, if anything, do you think are the advantages of being able to rely on this technology? What, if anything, do you think are the dangers of relying on this technology? What do you think might be the advantages of the scientific processes described in these chapters? The dangers?

Why do you think John Savage chooses to live and act as he does in the lighthouse. What other alternatives might he have had? Why might these alternatives have been better or worse than the route he chose?

Since 30 points are available for journals, you must make sure that any alternative assignments or combination of alternative assignments and journals totals up to 30 pts. Anyone who does not identify alternate choices on this page will be expected to complete journal entries.

3 JOURNALS (15 PTS.)
1. UNPLUG 1:
- Pick one day to monitor your use of technology. Record all forms of technology that you use that day and the frequency of their use.
- Unplug. Pick one day to avoid using any technology that was not in popular use in or before1936.
- Write a one page analysis of your reliance on technology. Explain your experience making connections to how technology is viewed in Brave New World.
*2. PODCAST:
- Using Audacity or another software program, create a podcast incorporating your reading of the text and post the podcast to the wiki.
*3. VISUAL:
- Create a visual image conveying important elements of your reading of the text. This image could be a painting, film, sculpture, etc.
- Write a brief explanation of the created work and how it conveys important elements of the text.
4. DISCUSSION BOARD
- On the discussion board for Brave New World, post a minimum of 3 comments and additional comments if necessary to equal 6000 words or more
5. PRESENTATION:
- Plan and deliver a presentation on a topic relevant to your reading of Brave New World. See the wiki page titled HE4 BNW PRESENTATIONS for details.

- Write a two page analysis of your reliance on technology. Explain your experience making connections to how technology is viewed in Brave New World.
