Player/Parent Contract Introduction: On behalf of the Los Angeles Xtreme Baseball Academy, I’d like to welcome you and your family to the LA Xtreme family. We have 11 teams and over 120 players this upcoming travel ball season with 4 Elite teams and 7 Pony League teams. It is our goal at the Xtreme to provide the kids with high-level coaching along with practice and game opportunities to help them take their game to the next level. The Tournament Travel teams will compete in Tournaments throughout the fall and winter. Xtreme Tournament Players will also be invited to optional batting cage practices, scrimmages, clinics and additional tournaments and games so they continuously have extra advanced baseball opportunities available to them throughout the Travel Ball Season. Tournament players also have first priority of joining the Sunday Pony League Mira Costa team, so that they have a game to play when there isn’t a Tournament.

Below are the player and parent terms and agreement with joining the Xtreme. If you ever have any questions, comments or concerns, please contact us and we are always glad to help. Thank you again for your interest in the Los Angeles Xtreme and we are eager and excited to get the travel ball season going!

Player/Parent Terms and Agreement:

Tournament Minimum Play/Roster Moves

1.  Tournament & Mira Costa Teams: Players making the travel ball team have first right to also play on the Sunday Mira Costa Pony League team. Players choosing to play on both teams will have their option of attending two weekly practices for their Tournament as well as one weekly practice for their Pony League Team. Player’s on both rosters, will play on the Travel Team when there is a Tournament. When there is not a tournament, the player has the option of playing on their Pony League team. A $15 Sunday game fee is only charged if the player plays that Sunday.

2.  Tournament Team Roster Size: Xtreme recommends travel team managers carry a minimum of 12 players on their roster along with additional players to practice with the team who could be called upon if a player is unable to attend a tournament. Xtreme managers will only travel with 12 players to a tournament. If more than 12 are on the roster, it is up to the manager to decide which 12 will be invited each day. For example, if a team has 14 players on its roster, and all 14 are available for a tournament, the manager will only invite 12 with the option of inviting 10 to both days and 2 to Saturday and 2 others to Sunday (In the event a player only plays 1-day, tournament fee is half).

3.  Minimum Play: There is NO minimum play in Travel Ball. Xtreme requests managers to use a continuous batting order (all players hit) and substitute the 3 non-starters into the game for Saturday’s games. However, on Sunday, for the single elimination playoffs, Xtreme allows managers to use their best judgment as to what is in the best interest of the team and to use either a continuous batting line-up or bat only 9 players. In the Sunday Mira Costa league there is a minimum play and during the regular season all players must play at least half the game and use a continuous batting order. In playoffs the Mira Costa manager may bat only 9 and sub in bench players.

4.  Fair Play: Once again in Travel Ball there is NO Fair play. Xtreme allows each Tournament manager to use their best judgment for their team’s best line-up and which players play what positions. In the Mira Costa Pony League, Xtreme does request managers to switch positions around, but in Travel Ball managers are not requested to play kids fairly at different positions.

5.  Parent/Player Issue with Minimum or Fair Play: If a player (or parent) is not happy with the decisions of the manger at NO time during or before a game should they ever confront the manager about playing time or positions of their child or any player on the team. If there is an issue, the player (not the parent) either in between games, before or after the games (never during), politely ask the manager about their playing time and/or positions they are or aren’t playing. In travel ball, positions and playing time are earned, however, Xtreme does expect its managers to be able to explain to the player as to why they are or aren’t playing where they’d like too. The Xtreme does expect the manager to also have a follow up with the player’s parents to discuss their discussion they had with the player.

6.  Manager request to release player: While the Xtreme is not in the business of removing players, a manager has the right to remove a player due to unacceptable behavior by the player or parent. The manager will notify the Xtreme and the parent in writing. If a resolution can not be worked out, the player will be removed from the team and fees will be immediately stopped. If a manger would like to remove a player because of poor performance, the manager shall notify in writing the Xtreme and the parents. The parents will have the option to accept the manager’s request (in which all fees are halted) or request a 30-day roster extension.

7.  Parent request to no longer play: If a player wishes to leave the program, the parent shall notify the manager and the LA Xtreme in writing. The parent will still be subject to the fees until a replacement player is found. If 30 days after receipt of the notice a replacement player has not been found, the fees are stopped. Player may still participate with the team during those 30 days or until a replacement player has been found. Obvious exceptions (injury, moving, etc.,) are taken into account in which fees will be immediately stopped or halted upon receipt of notification.

Player/Parent Agreement:

1.  All Xtreme players are covered under the Xtreme Team Insurance, however, this doesn’t protect players from engaging in inappropriate behavior. Parents are ultimately responsible for their child and if bad judgment is used with respect to other kids, teams, umpires, managers, practice/game facilities and the LA Xtreme organization, the parents are ultimately responsible.

2.  Player’s are allowed to play other sports and play on other Travel Ball teams while playing on the Xtreme. However, the Xtreme does expect that the players Xtreme Travel Ball team will have priority over the other sports and travel ball teams (unless there is an agreed upon agreement with the parent/player, the manager and the Xtreme). Other sports and travel ball teams can take priority over the Mira Costa Sunday Pony League team.

3.  Player’s are expected to be at practices and games on time. If a player is going to be late or miss a practice and/or game, the parent is to notify the manager and team mom as soon as possible.

4.  If a player is unable to attend either one or both of the days of a tournament, they must notify the manager and the Xtreme in writing, no later than Wednesday 5pm (PDT) the week of the tournament. Tournament fees are charged the Wednesday evening before the Tournament. In the event that a player needs to cancel after Wednesday, a credit to a future tournament will only be issued if a replacement player is found. The Xtreme has a lot of teams and players this fall season and the earlier the manager and Xtreme can be notified the easier it will be to find a replacement player. In the event that both days of a tournament are rained out, a full credit will be issued to a future Tournament.

5.  Mira Costa players are requested to cancel no later than the Friday before a Sunday game. The only time the $15 fee will be charged if a player doesn’t play on Sunday, is if no written notification to the Xtreme and the manager are sent prior to the time the player should be at the game.

6.  During games, it is very important that parents understand that they are there to cheer and not coach from the stands. If there is some sort of tip or action a parent believes will be beneficial to their child, they should inform the manager before the game.

7.  Player is NOT allowed to take paid private lessons from their Xtreme manager and/or coach as the Xtreme believes that this is a conflict of interest. The player may take private lessons from a different coach in the Xtreme program, however, all private lessons must be booked through the Xtreme.

Thank you parents and players once again for your interest in the LA Xtreme program. It is our goal to provide our players and parents with a top-tiered program. By Signing and dating this agreement the parent (or legal guardian) of the player, hereby accepts the terms and conditions below for joining the LA Xtreme. Thank you!
