EAST Students at Har-Ber High Host a successful EAST Night Out

On Tuesday, October 16, students from Har-Ber High School showcased the projects that they will be working on throughout this year. The seminar room, full of parents and community partners, accommodated 12 project teams that shared their project goals. The teams proved that education is different in this classroom through their professionalism and their way of incorporating our technology to benefit the problems we see in our community. The event was covered not only by Har-Ber EAST video and photography specialist, but also by the local news station KNWA. Students had the opportunity to be interviewed in a professional manner. The night served as not only an informational presentation for those in attendance but also for the Northwest Arkansas community. This year the variety of projects will cover a broad spectrum from an anti-bullying campaign to community beautification through the use of rain gardens to the production of a senior video and even to the extent of developing a model for internalized recycling processing in the city of Springdale. Along with presenting, the students were able to showcase their specific technologies and equipment they are becoming familiar with. The Northwest Arkansas EAST community is becoming more unified as EAST at Har-Ber High is reaching out with mentorship programs towards newly created EAST programs like EAST at Westwood Elementary in Springdale. The students all practiced and exemplified communication as they presented with clarity and precision. The night’s success was apparent as project managers were approached with suggestions, praises, and ideas of collaboration by many residents in attendance shortly after the presentation. There were approximately 60 students and approximately 90 guests in attendance. The emphasis on depth, teamwork, and opportunity helped to promote the EAST program at Har-Ber High as well as enlarge the students’ minds to the opportunity EAST has to change the way that education is seen by those observing.
