Didactic In-service Seminar
Thursdays 1:00am-3:00pm, Conference Room
Interns participate in the Didactic In-Service Seminar series during Fall and Spring Semesters, which focuses on exposure to a variety of evidenced-based models (e.g., CBT, Psychodynamic), orienting interns toward technical integration of interventions supported by theory and research, and increasing their knowledge of developmental and clinical issues relevant to a college population. Licensed Staff Psychologists and guest speakers from the University and Waco community present topics relevant to the acquisition of assessment and psychotherapy skills, grounded in legal and ethical guidelines of practice, in this weekly two-hour seminar. Interns are expected to research and present an In-service Seminar that enhances their knowledge and skill set during the Spring Semester of the training year.

Diversity Seminar
Tuesdays 10:00am-12:00pm, Conference Room
The Diversity Seminar is designed for Psychology Interns to build their awareness, knowledge, and skills in building multicultural competencies. A staff psychologist/supervisor, faculty, or community member who specializes in the topic of the week will facilitate the training. The goal of the Diversity Seminar is to expand understanding beyond the theoretical and research based learning that interns have received thus far in their graduate education. The seminar focuses on intervention skills and working with the complexities of personal awareness, transference/countertransference, and the role of multiple identities in relation to clinical work. Emphasis is placed on understanding individuals as unique and complex persons with evolving identities and values systems. The trainings will involve experiential components.
