Nicotine Patch Program
What is the Free Nicotine Patch Program?
This program provides six weeks of free nicotine patches to eligible participants with the assistance of participating healthcare providers and pharmacies. The participant contacts a participating physician and, with medical clearance, will receive a prescription and a voucher for the nicotine patches from the doctor. The physician determines the dose of the patch and monitors the participant. The prescription and voucher may be redeemed at City Pharmacy of Elkton or the Sun Pharmacy in Rising Sun.
Who is eligible for the program?
Cecil County residents or property owners, who are at least 18 years of age, have no insurance coverage for the nicotine patch and meet financial eligibility requirements may participate in the program. The contracted physicians will evaluate the participant's medical status and determine if he/she can use nicotine patches as part of their smoking cessation efforts. Program participants cannot smoke while wearing nicotine patches.
What are the eligibility requirements?
Residents who are uninsured or underinsured and whose total household income is less than or equal to 250% of Federal Poverty Guidelines may participate. One person may have an income of up to $24,500.00; a family of two persons $33,000.00; a family of three persons $41,500.00 and a family of four persons $50,000.00. For each additional person, add $8,500.00.
